'30 Year Low', The Mendoza Line's final album, will be released 21 August on Glurp Records. It will also contain an 18 song bonus disk entitled 'Final Remarks Of The Legendary Miscontent' made up of rehearsal takes, demos, and covers. Here's the slow-burner Since I Came off the new release. Have also included two catchier tunes from earlier releases in comments to hopefully flesh out The Mendoza Line's sound for you. The Mendoza Line was formed by Timothy Bracy and Peter Hoffman in 1997. Shannon McArdle joined the band in 2000, and along with Bracy has been lead vocalist and a major songwriting contributor.Reviews have been extremely favourable for the band's last six releases, and 2002's 'Lost In Revelry' was heralded one of the year's most likable albums by both Magnet and Uncut magazine as well as Village Voice. The band crafts gorgeously poignant indie pop songs about life's downtrodden; individuals stumbling, corrupted, sometimes lost beyond hope, but who appear frighteningly and intimately familiar. Splendid melodies and sparkling wit often mask the ireful themes of loss, personal failures, and crushing human injustices woven heavily throughout the lyrics. Am anticipating the new album, and would recommend these releases: Full of Light and Full of Fire, Fortune, and Lost In Revelry.Read bio, news, and download songs from The Mendoza Line releases at:http://www.mendozaline.com/Glurp sneak peek here:http://www.glurp.com/menu4.html

I really liked what I heard, I just want to make sure I really thought that it sounded that good before I go all crazy or something. Take care Girlcrawl!

  9. FluxCapacitor says Great intro to an interesting band, GC. Wasn't expecting the moody electronics on the third song, definitely my favorite -- I'll try track down that album for a listen. Thanks.

  10. Girlcrawl says FluxCapacitor - Glad you found the 'moody electronics' vibe enjoyable although I would not characterise the bulk of their music as having that vibe. You can download some tunes here as well as read individual title reviews: http://www.mendozaline.com/ Cheers, and thanks as ever for the listen!

  12. HelenMarie says Very Nice! Like Flux said there, that 3rd song was a bit different with the electronics...It's all good for sure but I'm glad to see you say it may not be the greater part of their style. Thanks for postin it!

  16. soulrocket says i would like to listen to the full album, those songs are all cool and they are very different too, i guess the album works as a whole. the mendoza line is a great name for a band. first song is really nice and the one i like the best, she has a great voice. another classy post, cynthia.

  17. Marigold says I did not get a chance to sit down and really listen to the songs yesterday....but I did this morning in the office before everyone got in and the phones started ringing. I really do enjoy all three of these songs quite a bit. Really lovin the lush vocals over the kind of laid back overall feel of the first track. I also enjoy his vocal on the second track. Slightly more upbeat, but still caries the kind of laid back sound that all three of the tracks seem to have. Good stuff.

  18. Girlcrawl says Thanks dear; glad you still like the Mendoza sound. Had no idea you were in an office surrounded by phones throughout the day. Cheers, and hope the upcoming weekend will be a fantastic one.

  19. poebegone says what?? why?? excuse the hysterics, i have always loved The Mendoza Line, and the words "final album" drew my attention to this post. by which you mean the band is breaking up, moving to another label, or heaven forbid, did anyone die? i suppose i can simply Google up the answers to my own questions instead of bothering you. (: looking forward to the new album, though!

  20. Girlcrawl says poebegone - No apology required :-) It seems that Bracy and McArdle's marriage to one another recently ended with divorce, and they are now parting ways musically as well. Timothy Bracy will continue to record/perform apparently under the Mendoza name (that could change), and McArdle is off to work on other projects. Read too that she would not be appearing on the remaining gigs the band has scheduled. I'm looking forward to this 'last' album as well. Hope your travels are still going well; stay safe. Cheers, and appreciate comment.
