MOG MOG

BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

Artist:
Track: And I Found This Boy; Say Goodbye
(84)

I'm completely smitten with Sweden songstress Maia Hirasawa's debut album 'though, I'm just me' released May 2007.

Hirasawa wrote, arranged, and produced all 11 songs on the album, and since its release the debut has received tremendously positive reviews throughout Scandinavia.

'though, I'm just me' brims with shimmeringly melodious pop songs that are liltingly enchanting and superbly crafted - a very pleasant, and recommended listen!

Here's track 5 entitled 'And I Found This Boy':

Yeah great voice. Nice pop music for sure. What is up with the Swedes kicking out all this great music as of late? Wow. Great find.

The video was pretty cool....it looks like the drummer for RATT found a job. :P

Marigold - the Swedes do seem to be kickin' out some fabulous sounds these days, although must admit that I've been into the Swedish musical vibe for years now. Glad you enjoyed, and appreciate the comment!

Ha. Well just call me Johnny come lately. I must ask. Where do you go to find out about Swedish music? How did you find your way to it years ago? I must know.

I was just reflecting today while listening to some Lassie Foundation (mog coming soon...you hear it here first) how much I love "shoegaze" music. However, I have been really branching out of my music norm as of late. Not that I have not done so in the past. But over the last few months, I have really found out about some stuff that there is almost no way I could have found if it was not for mog. Even though I am not going out and buying all the music my trusted moggers are suggesting. I am broadening my music appreciation greatly. I really have to thank you for being a part of this musical awakening of sorts.

It is interesting how we all as music lovers can be sucked into a specific style that we connect to. But there really is so much out of your music "comfort food" that is worth spending some time with. If nothing else it gives one appreciation and further depth to the music they already love.

Just feeling happy tonight and glad to be lovin music. Thanks again Girlcrawl your insight and sharing of music has been a part of this musical appreciation I have had as of late and it is a welcomed change of pace to my old ways of finding new music.

Marigold - Thank you for a most lovely compliment; glad to be a participant in expanding your 'musical appreciation'. Appreciate your MOG contributions and insight as well! Have always enjoyed 'awakening' to or exploring new musical sounds and traditions, and that ever-present curiosity seems to keep me from falling too deeply into a particular sound or genre. I'm rather content to endlessly descend further into the world's musical abyss.

Think living outside the States significantly increased my exposure to music from other cultures and countries, and that includes the Scandinavian landscape. Also lived with a Swede boyfriend for a couple of years back in the day, and he introduced me to lots of 'indie' or underground Swedish bands/artists. Still attempt to read up on the Swedish scene or releases via zines, labels, and blogs.

Thanks again for the fabulous comment, and I'm so happy that you inhabit the Mog-o-sphere - you're a gem!

loving this post & i can see "and i found this boy" getting big in the uk as a song for a tv advert. tune sounds very much like something from made in the uk during the early sixties. the clip is fun & "say goodbye" keeps the same cozy atmosphear. she must be doing really good in japan. another excellent post, cynthia.

ciphermedia - So you lurrrrrve the video aye :-) Glad you enjoyed, and hope the studies are going well; appreciate the comment!

SunshineDaydream - It does appear eerily similiar, doesn't it? So glad you enjoyed, and thanks for the wonderful comment. Cheers!

soulrocket - You are so spot on about the UK early Sixties sound, and the probable advert theme music. Great observation regarding the 'cozy atmosphere' of Say Goodbye (really like that song personally). Am glad you found Maia's music enjoyable - I think she's a gem. Hope you're well; cheers Danny!

Shudd33 - so nice to see you back on MOG, and really appreciate the listen and comment. Cheers!
