MELT-PROOF AND SCRATCH-RESISTANT

Soft Cell's Memorabilia 12" - New Wave Wednesday.

Posted over 2 years ago

Not only did I experience a New Wave 'phase', but I remember it ever so fondly.

Soft Cell's (Marc Almond/David Ball) rather brilliant 1981 12" single Memorabilia (long version) which was coupled with Persuasion. Thanks Wiel!

Hat's off to dachmo for initiating New Wave Wednesday, and Misstee for inspiring him to do so!

And inspiration goes on & on...you are a fantastic one Girlcrawl!! New wave music always makes smile...so I think this is great for those who need some light hearted sounds. *; )*

  6. Bartleby says "I can't believe this is Soft Cell." is what I said at a house party not long ago. I agree with John, the remixes are most refreshing. Muchas gracias ;)

  11. Augusts1 says Trent did a remake of that song on the "Closer To God" single which had a bunch of remixes of "Closer" but then had this as well: I never heard the original so thanks for posting it GC!

  16. Girlcrawl says Dale - Thanks ever so much! SunshineDaydream - What a lovely compliment; you are quite inspiring as well! Memorabilia screams 'techno remix' doesn't it? Must be one out there somewhere. New Wave makes me smile too; as does your ever thoughtful comments. Cheers! avenustylee - Indeed; appreciate the listen! dachmo - Merci cutie! Jonh Ingham - Absolutely agree; merci! Bartleby - And I concur with both you and Jonh! Thanks for listening and commenting. Cheers. Marigold - You never experienced a NW phase, not even a brief one? New Wave was such an enjoyable musical excursion and an interesting genre/movement - it passed on far too quickly. Appreciate the comment. Cheers! GooGoomuc - Need to recruit you so we can help poor Marigold who claims never to have experienced a NW 'phase' - think he was deprived. Truth be told, I'm still a New Waver at heart. Appreciate the comment. Cheers! Dzendvokh - Thank you! At least the MOG New Wave studies programme is relatively inexpensive to pursue - wonder if a PhD is offered? Appreciate the comment. Cheers. scotfree - Exactly! Thanks for the sentiment, and the visit. Cheers. Augusts1 - Was not aware of the NIN 'Memorabilia' remix; thanks so much for posting. You are delightful, and I appreciate your musical sharing immensely. Cheers. Rawkkiddo - Ditto; that's why I'm only now responding to everyone's fabulous comments! Cheers. Misstee - 'Serious throwback' indeed; Memorabilia was released right as I entered my NW 'phase' full-force so I recall it fondly. Appreciate the comment. Cheers. nicki - :-) Love the original as well. thanks for the candour! Anna - Hey sexy kitty - abfab comment! Think I 'sonically climaxed' just posting the track. Appreciate the wit and the visit. Cheers!

  17. waydutch says Had a bit of a New Wave phase of my own, and this is great reminder of how good some of it was. I don't think I've heard this extended cut before, but it certainly reminded me of that distinct Tainted Love sound. Thanks for another great listen.

  19. Marigold says In retrospect nowadays I may be having a slight NW phase. However, my musical awakening happened in the mid-late 80s with bands like REM. At that point the NW phase was kind of winding down, right? Either way, I missed it when it really happened and until now never had the ability to appreciate it. Thanks to MOG and YOU I may find a soft spot for some New Wave. Hope your weekend is going well.
