Jeff Buckley "Hallelujah" cover #2 on iTunes?

Posted about 1 year ago
This morning I woke up and looked at my Apple homepage and saw that Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" was #2 on iTunes. I love this song, but Buckley covered it back in '94, so I wondered what had caused this iTunes phenomenon. I did some research (a.k.a. Googling) and found out that American Idol contestant, Jason Castro, sang it a couple of nights ago.The judges say they like his rendition. Even Simon, who said it's one of favorite songs, said it was "BRILLIANT!" Hmmmm...I'd actually like to disagree with Simon and the rest of the judges and say it was not brilliant. Castro didn't butcher the song. As a matter of fact, it was pure and sweet, but it just didn't do it for me.I don't know...maybe I'm just being too hard, because I like Buckley's version the best. When he sang the song, it was just very...raw...yeah that's it, raw. And haunting.Go here to watch Buckley sing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AratTMGrHaQ Beautiful...

  1. debi says I agree with you - I saw Idol last night and thought his version was 'sweet' but hardly brilliant. However he definitely didn't butcher it - and guessing he'll be around a few more weeks on the show.
