Hey, here is the latest export from one of the world's tiniest islands! It was something like half a year waiting for Chasing Pandora's first full album, "Mocking The Mocking Bird", but finally it was released, even a whole week before its official release date of 1st May.
Here is just one song to whet your appetite. Bleed is probably my favourite of all CP songs, with Divine catching up quickly. Both these songs were included in their EP Feel The Rain which was released last year (and has been sold out for a few months!), but have been newly arranged. However, none of the other songs on the new album are any less riveting! Samples can be found on Chasing Pandora's official website http://chasingpandora.com and also on their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/chasingpandora
Vocalist Melissa Portelli writes all lyrics and are rather personal. About Bleed she says: "Poetry has always been my first true love, however, when my brother died a few years ago, I felt like I couldn't really write anymore and that no words could really explain how I feel. So I stopped writing for a short while.
"That didn't help me, if anything I felt worse so I got myself back into writing again and I realized what a big part of me , words were. Being alone for some time , not living in denial but actually making something out of the pain , has definitely helped me move on."
Keith Anthony is responsible for the beautiful melodies, and the guitar play. At times it gives me the shivers how perfectly lyrics and music complement each other!
Well, if your ways should lead you to Malta or Gozo, pick up Mocking The Mocking Bird - it'll make a beautiful souvenir! Otherwise it can be purchased online on one of the following sites:
http://maltaproducts.com or http://shop.di-ve.com (look under "Local Music").
Lyrics for BLEED
As I sit here in this dark room
There's nothing here
There is no sound
I've lost my ground
When innocence was mine
Enough to make you blind
Your counting fears
You want my tears
Only God knows why
Chorus:
It's quite painful
It's quite lonely
This is the way I want it to be
In my room to Bleed
Did I ask for
Or did I cry for you to save me?
Have I not asked for
Did I ask for your forgiveness?
I'm kissing you goodbye
I turn to walk away
Your shadow will remain
This is what keeps me sane.
Chorus:
It's quite painful
It's quite lonely
This is the way I want it to be
In my room to bleed

This is amazing... I just managed to dig out a very old album (vinyl) of Nektar. Nektar's "Remember the Future" tour was my first ever live concert I attended, during a vacation in Torquay (UK) at the tender age of 15. On my return home I bought the album... that was in 1974!
After all this time I acquired the double CD "The Dream Nebula (The Best Of 1971-1975)" this morning. I'm luvin' it! Um... Remember the future? Nope! Remember the Past! LOL!!

Prog man, Prog! I haven't heard of Nektar (Randy had, however...figures. LOL ) Thanks for sharing. Gosh, I miss the 70's...
Chasing Pandora are a fabulous duo from the island of Gozo (that's in the Mediterranean Sea). They won the 2006 'Best Newcomer' Award of a Maltese music radio station - and deservedly so! Listen and judge for yourselves... :)

How would you describe her accent? Maltese? Gozo'ese?
I'd say a lot of it originates from NY where she grew up - could be there's some Gozitan/Maltese influence, but hardly so ;-)
Apologies, I made a very stupid mistake there... Mel grew up in Canada!! Trust a German not to be able to differentiate between Canadian and New York accents... blush
