i notice from your profile that you read Joe Boyd's book. i worked w/ Joe for many years - knew he was contemplating a book, but didn't know it came out (can't find it on amazon, oddly, though i can find the "booktrack" album. how was the book?

I thought it was terrific. Much more thoughtful than your usual rock book, but still with enough juicy anecdote to keep those pages turnin'. I think it was only published in England (I got it because my wife goes there for business fairly often), but you can order it through the UK Amazon site or (my preference) an excellent aggregate used book site called abebooks.com.
Just curious: How did you work with him?

thanks for the tip. i'll get it through abebooks. as to how i know Joe, i used to run a record company called rykodisc, and we were partnered w/ Joe's label, hannibal.

I'm very acquainted with Rykodisc. There are several CDs I love with that name on the label. The Undertones greatest hits, for one, and an especially wonderful Christmas CD with tracks from Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad, et al. You did some fine work...
