WHY NOT was originally formed in 1967 in the UK, was the first Rock band their to release a single titled "I´ve Gone" in Psyhedelic Rock, which was not popular at the time but Why Not has undergone a lot of changes in line-up´s over the last 40 or so years, and original member Geoff "Mad Dog" Horgan still runs the band. They have released over the last 40 years around 100 albums and 18 singles so far, and appear on many compiltion albums of various artists.WHY NOT are not just your normal and typical rock band, in the late 1960´s through to the late 1970´s bands like Why Not developed sounds that are used in Modern Dance and Hip Hop today, so with Psychedelic Rock there was no progression, and Why Not was and is what Progression is all about. So Why Not can produce music in many various music forms even today, Dance yeah, Pop, ok, but still are a formost rock Band, and their new album THAT GIRL is what it is all about. WHY NOT have their own label, publishing company, etc., so are very independent and can produce and record and create what they like to do, without being told what to do in the music fields. The idea of WHY NOT in the first place was to be positive and to write songs with a view to help me and to communicate to people not just to make money, even though we all have to live and eat, the point of WHY NOT is to be free to be yourself, and to inform others of the same, and to seek out those who think negative to this all. Why Not is a symbol of just being free to be free. Love is the winner, love takes it all, if only the world would seek that out. Perhaos ine day. If the seed of freedom is sown one day it will grow and be the biggest tree of all.WHY NOT wish you well!

    brittanybf says with all the things you've listed that why not has accomplished, i wonder how come they don't rule the earth or something. they are free free free and i suppose creatively ambitious.

    GROOVI says Hi, Why Not do not want to rule the earth, we just make music to reach out to the people and hope they share our dream of being free and hopefully a world that is free one day. The idea of Why Not in the beginning was to share what we find out with everybody. Why Not is not in the music biz just for the money we all have toe at, and this is the system at the moment, but if everything was free we could spend more time talking to trees instead of what we do, if you get my drift. Anyway, thank you for writing we like to hear from people their views, and there´s a track on one of our albums titled "Dum Spiro Spero" that´s Latin and translated it means "While i live i breathe and while i breathe i create". You know its not easy making a career of music, it has a lot of ups and downs and its always a hard fight to get your messages in your songs through to people, so much stands in the way of it all, but the only way is to persist, like everything else in life. Concentration is the thing in music that one learns, and if you concentrate at something long enough you will reach out to somewhere eventually.
