WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Herd

Posted over 3 years ago
So I was surfing the net in the dead of night and going off on random tangents and I came across this awesome hip hop group from Australia called The Herd. Seems that they hail from Sydney and have been active since 2001. They make really fresh, conscious music which is helped by the fact they have a full band format. Their rhymes are very witty and great to listen to, even though you might have to get used to the ozzie accent first. Its also good to hear instruments like the accordeon and melodica used here and there. They have scored a bunch of hits in Australia including "Scallops", and "Burn down Parliament" (yeah! awesome title). They have released three albums all on Elefant Tracks, whom they have helped to become one of the largest independant labels in the country. They also have made a video which you can watch at www.brokenyellow.com So what we have hear is a a bunch of ozzie rappers. a live band, anti-war and anti-capitalist politics, and a song about scallops. Great combo if you ask mewww.theherd.com.auwww.elefanttracks.com

  1. annnna says That's pretty cool. I almost can't imagine hip hop that doesn't have a ghetto accent, it's so present.
