I've just got home from one of the best gigs I have seen - Phoenix, at a little venue called The Factory in Sydney. The place only holds about 500 people, and it was packed for one of France's finest exports - and I include red wine in that equation.
Man, they were just so good. They opened up with Napoleon Says and got the place jumping straight off. They played a lot off their latest album, It's Never Been Like This, which is a fine record, and some choice oldies, too.
Highlights were Run, Run, Run, North, Too Young, North, Second To None and Sometimes In The Fall, but honestly, everything was indescribably awesome.
Thomas Mars did his usual walk into the crowd for the encore, and I managed to touch his head, which was pretty funny.
I truly think this is a band to see live before you die. They're pretty small-time, I guess, when compared to the U2s and Coldplays of this world, but they're just a wonderfully harmonious group of guys. Their energy is fantastic, and they play really beautifully.
Oh, and you can see my shots of the show right about here.
Tres bien, monsieurs. Retournez a Australie bientot, s'il vous plait. Je vous adore!!!

great photos! i love how a photo like this interacts with the background of your mog skin. it adds even more dynamics to the original. sounds like a fun time. my favorite shows are usually the smaller ones. you get to feel closer to the musician and less a part of the crowd.
