I was introduced to Portuguese fado singer Mariza recently and fell head over heels for her. What an absolutely unbelievable voice she has. I was so touched by it, I almost cried a river of tears.If you go to her website, you can hear a few samples of her work. I'd recommend listening in higher quality if you can, though, because it is a quite spectacular experience.I was listening to a live recording of her, taped in Lisbon, I think, and just could not believe how bewitching her voice was, and is. She's got this exceptional ability to get inside you, and just make you feel exactly what she is feeling as she sings. Of course, it was all in Portuguese, so I understood nothing - or so I thought. Her ability meant I felt like I translated every word, and digested every emotion. It was extraordinary to listen to her, and I think seeing her live must become a priority for me, because I am sure I will melt at the sound of her voice in real life. A sublime talent, she truly is.So yeh - I'd marry her, if only because I could ask her to sing for me whenever I wanted. I have this fantasy about Sheryl Crow sitting on the end of my bed in her undies, strumming a guitar and singing to me in her husky tones. Still gets me, but so too does Mariza now, in a whole new way ;-)So come on - some people marry for money, many for love (which would be my preference, I think), but would you ever marry for sheer musical talent of this kind? :-)
