One of my favourite bands is Last Days Of April, but every time I mention them to people, they're like: "Huh?" So, for the purpose of education for anyone out there in the MOG-o-sphere has similarly no idea about these guys, I thought I'd post something on them. They've also ot a new record ready to go, which is called Might As Well Live. You can hear a few tracks off it on their MySpace page. I'm a fan, so I love them, but you can make up your own minds.I first heard these guys a while back in a record shop in Sydney and immediately asked the dude who they were. He told me, I bought the record, and have never looked back. i don't really know what it is about their sound I like, but I am just addicted to it in a wonderful way. When i first heard it, I thought Karl Larsson's voice was so unusual, but so cool. Everyone I have played it too has taken time to adjust to his sound, but got there eventually with great joy.The music comprises some of the catchiest choruses and chord progressions I have ever heard, and some of their slower tracks are just heart-breaking. A particular favourite of mine is Down The Aisle (With You), which features the lines, and At Your Most Beautiful is literally one of the most wonderful songs I own. It's such a fragile arrangement, you have to hear it to believe it.These guys can do driving indie rock tunes, too, and get heavy when they need to, and the use of effects on the guitars and any keys is also so inventive.Anyway, I'm rambling a bit now. I just wanted to say how excited I am about the new album, because it's been three years since the last one, Ascend To The Stars. Now, I just hope they come back to Australia to tour, because I'll be seeing them for sure. If you hear them, let me know what you think. Alternatively, if you know and love them as I do, say hi.
