For muck's sake: pics from Lovebox, Dublin

Posted over 2 years ago
Groove Armada's Lovebox festival hit Dublin over the weekend. The one day event also featured Toots and the Maytals, Super Furry Animals, The Rapture, and a whole gaggle of DJs. Of course, the day belonged to Groove Armada in more ways than one. They blew the crowd away. So much so, I didn't get one half-decent photo of them. Oh well. Here's some I did get: DJ Andy Smith of Portishead and friends (namely, the girlfriend and myself)...Massive Attack's Daddy G was smokin'...a joint!Toots and two Maytals...Super Furry Animals rocked so hard they needed crash helmets...For muck's sake...Anybody who's ever been to a Groove Armada show (or even if you haven't) will probably get a spine tingle at this brief clip of Superstylin'...

  1. Marigold says not familiar with groove armada but it sounded pretty interesting. I think I would need better sound quality to get spine tingley. I will let you know if i get any when i hear better quality goods. how about toots? isnt he awesome! I saw him about a year and a half ago and he is awesome. I saw him in a small club though and he was spot on! the crowd was going crazy. looks like you had a good time. thanks for the report.

  3. The Serenity Vortex says Good to see a mogger stalking some stars ;) Groove Armada a very good, although the Lovebox album left me cold at times. That's not going to put me off from trying out 'Sound Boy Rock' though. Glad you had a good one Flux dude.

  6. Marigold says Flux, like it. it is a little heavier on the dance then I usually prefer. I do like the dancehall style vocals so that works for me. Thanks for hooking me up with the streaming song. Appreciate it much! Take Care!

  9. FluxCapacitor says TBF -- Soundboy Rock is a good dance album, less eclectic than Lovebox. But nothing as towering as thr first two albums, which make up the bulk of their live set. GA for me just have excellent taste with the sounds they "find" and the people they work with (Kylie is next!) Anna -- I'll pass on your girly message to Jill, thanks! Yeah, GA have an unbelievable show. When you get the chance, go see 'em! Shud33 -- Hey! I want backstage passes when your band tours Ireland... Marigold -- No problem, I wrongly presumed they were well-known in the US. On this side of the water, they're the quintessential chemical generation band. CP - Thanks...Hope they passed it 'round...! GC -- Cheers! Jill matched her whole outfit around those wellies...A wonder to behold.

  10. poebegone says i luuuv Groove Armada. i love Vertigo and Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub). giving a listen to Song 4 Mutya (Out of Control) (for and featuring Filipina ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena) is still in my list of things to do. and that's despite the fact that i don't hope to see them (because i am too far away).

  12. poebegone says sweet! (a little less sweet after i found out it shares the same album with a very bad George Michael collab.) thanks, Flux, you're a badass good guy, as always. (:
