WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT

Home Taping: Glasvegas

Ahoy there, Mog Mates!

I'm just back from New York City, where I had the vacation of a lifetime ... save for one regrettable incident: I got married to The Girlfriend.

But enough sentiment. Time to get back to business. In the video below, Mrs S and I discuss the self-titled debut album from Scottish surf-poppers Glasvegas.

Luckily for some, the vid doesn't show up in certain browsers. To witness our unprofessional bungling, you can follow this link. Or you can read the transcript provided below. Or, like, not.

Yours sincerely AND faithfully,

Flux

Many many congratulations! You married a pirate, you lucky bastard!

Love the album, loved them live, and I LOVE the video addition!!! Please keep it that way.

I've never heard Legs N Show before.......sounds good......

Oh, and he looked pretty handsome on stage...although {or "because"?} he was wearing wayfarers haha!

    Cheers, you two lovlings :*

PS when I was in Dublin, I couldn't understand most of the people...but I could understand you two perfectly....odd!

PS2 Scottish accents are the hottest accents after the Sheffield ones ;)

Hey, Anna, many thanks. Glad you could understand our ramblings. Btw, I've just read your live review - fantastic. They're one band I'd love to see live. I take it you've now made the move to live among the godless English heathens. Good for you. Although I will say a prayer for you (and them.)  See you out in the ballpark.

I enjoyed your imaginative post here.  As for Geraldine,  I hear echoes of Big Country with a dash of The Cure,  and that can't be bad.  Your video was entertaing, witty and enthusiastic, infectious.

DMDM, thanks very much for the feedback on the vid. much appreciated. Interesting that you hear Big Country in there, being fellow Scots. Makes me want to go back and listen to them again.

Yep, it's Tyler.  Has anyone ever told you that CJ Scuffins sounds like a US theme restaurant.  God only knows what that theme would be!

Funny you say that, because the top result for my surname in Google is a type of scone-cum-muffin, "a scuffins." If I had any dignity, it would be gravely affronted.

Wow, your already a market ready brand name.  "It's like a muffin - but dryer!"  "It's like a scone, but more moist!".  Best to sit on scuffins.com and wait for your daddy warbucks venture capitalist.  Though a rowdy drunken theme restaraunt that promotes bickering among couples, might be quite a fun place to dine!

Congratulations on your nuptials! I didn't know where you were registered, so I picked you both up a little something-something.

    No need to thank me.

Thank you for including a transcript, the video doesn’t work here at work so it was great being able to read what I was missing. As with all your posts, this was pure gold.

What a genius post! I think you should keep getting married to each other and bringing us video reviews from all sorts of honeymoon destinations. Next up: Reviewing from a gondola in Italy? Hope to see more of these in the future. You two are too much and I mean it in the best way. Cheers!

First off, congrats on nuptials, and thanks for coming across the pond for the celebration...Lord knows we can use the cash!!

Holy crap, I feel like you two have been in the living room all night and I need to go to the store and get a couple more litres of wine. The eyepatch was outstanding, but totally distracting. I predict "slityourwristy" will make the next edition of Webster's.

@ Neill: Blimey, you're a bit full on yourself there. Your missus got any survival tips for me? ;)

    @ DC - That's a beautiful something-something, thank you. Reminds me of the mother-in-law!

@ Brittany - Jill's got relations from Italy, and Ireland are playing soccer there next April, so you never know, we could be beaming live from a gondala soon. Oh, and thanks for training your cat to do a hooray for us!

@ Scott - Glad to help the economy (and boy did we help it!) but the pleasure was all ours. We absolutely adored NYC. In fact we're already planning a trip back (perhaps a permanent one! You have been warned, America!) I don't know where the eyepatch came from, I'd certainly never seen it before - she's full of surprises, that girl.

    @ David - You're welcome, mogfather. ;)

What fun to see a video taping!   It was thoroughly entertaining...the whole bit!   ...mostly thanks to the Mrs tho.

If you ever make to the southern US (for even more heat and humidity), please inform, the first round of gin and tonics is on us!

    Thanks for the laughs Scuffins'!

This is awesome you two. You two arrrrr a hilarious bunch of scallywags for sure. Feckin brilliant! :P

Colin your delivery kills me. Jill, you have a great voice. Whith Colin on the back up vocals, you could start a band. You could call it "Jill and the Colinics". ..just a thought.

    Keep these up!

@ Mike - With prescient comic timing of your own, you've hit on one of the major topics of our household in 2008... "colonics". Jill swears by 'em, while the very idea brings me out in a cold sweat. Hope to get another done this week (vid, not colonic!)

COLIN!!!!!! i feel so, so bad that Jill wedded you - and i'm only finding out now, that is. had i known earlier, i would have, er, congratulated you two sooner. all my friends will have you know, i'm really a good friend, it's just not very obvious.

now enough seriousness, i wanted to say i am too thrilled to watch you review-mongering couple in action. fun, fun, fun! and i understood it, too...

but enough seriousness, i came for the laughs!

C: Well, he’s a bit of a miserable fuck, you know—
    J: That’s because he’s not very good-looking.
C: . . .  Oh, Jesus Christ. You’ve just insulted everybody in MOG.

J: One point is dropped. Half a point is dropped for, on some of the songs, I can’t understand what they’re saying.
C: I’ve never seen you drop a pint in your life.

    ahahahahah.

Fluxy, congratulations - you have entertained me once again. ;p
