London underground

!http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2128/2035045908_9855f33ff1.jpg?v=0!Jittery, drizzly, late-night rhythmic garage, subterranean sounds, unintelligible voices, headphone music, from beatless to breathless, the amorphous “Untitled” to the sinewy “Raver”, so secretive, mercurial, anonymous, like its unknown creator, you want to question the tracks…!http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2367/2035045474_e0b67ebf71.jpg?v=0!Responses are visual, “Archangel” is a speeded-up recording of the sky, “Etched Headplate”, a swinging lightbulb in a black tunnel, “Near Dark” the yearning of the heart-paired and parted, “Ghost Hardware”, a weak pulse, a downbeat heart vibrant only with longing... Untrue is...textural, punctuated, atmospheric. Afraid. !http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2188/2034246941_119d09ae41.jpg?v=0!"Burial comes up for air":http://music.guardian.co.uk/urban/story/0,,2198811,00.html"Disused Stations on London's Underground":http://underground-history.co.uk/front.php

  2. Lizziegreeneyes says Nice beats... *FLUXALICIOUS* even ;-} Totally hear a Tricky vibe on the track "Near Dark". An old ex of mine would *+LOVE+* this... shame I haven't seen in ages. "Raver" is sweet as well, reminds me of another band, at the tip of my tongue... but I am at a loss... makes me want to hit up my old haunt, *+The Limelight+* & sweat all night dancin (would be happy at either the London or NYC locale... unfortunately, both of them are no longer)... _moment of silence for my favorite club... they were in churches for goodness sakes... they were beautiful_ !!!

  3. TylerDurden says but can you escape from a POW camp using only a dirty Q-tip, a tampon (still in the wrapper), 6 pieces of rice, and a tiny bamboo splinter that is stuck in your thigh???? I know I couldn't do it, because I am HIGHLANDER aka DUNCAN MaCLOUD.... Ballyhoo, great tune, got my mind a churnin Jack's tempting taste for buck teeth, Tyler Durden

  6. FluxCapacitor says @ Lizzie - _moment of silence for my favorite club… they were in churches for goodness sakes… they were beautiful !!!_ Love it...woman after me own heart. @ The Figment Of Ed Norton's Twisted, Fevered Imagination - Glad you liked the tune, mate. @ SD - * *bows* * - Cool, thanks for getting it...I really love the pics of those old disused stations...the site I got them from is disused itself, fittingly enough!

  7. Bartleby says Dream-like underworld made of splendid soundscapes. Now I wonder whether you haven't been following me around London. Charing Cross is my station - I work near Kingsway old tube entrance. Great shots, FluxC. Thanks for this underground trip calling at all emotional stations to euphoria.

  8. FluxCapacitor says Sweet words, Michael. You're a local -- any idea who Burial is?! That Man/Woman/Child is a genius.

  9. mollifire says Absolutely beautiful review FluxCapacitor! I'm loving this album... The man known as Burial is extremely elusive, rarely does public appearances or interviews. However, this album release has forced him out of hiding for the moment and he has done a few interviews with very close friends/peers. There are links to 3 of those interviews on HearingTest's Burial album report, just scroll to the end where it says links. That article also has the mix that Kode9 made for Mary Anne Hobbs BBC radio show featuring a bunch of tracks from this new album. Thank you so much for writing this review on MOG! Big UP the MOG dubstep massive!

  10. FluxCapacitor says Bo! You're very welcome, Mollifire! Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm (I'm loving it too!) and for the links. I've linked to his terrific Guardian interview in the post above, very artistic thinker. I feel guilty as a consumer that he has to come out of hiding to sate our curiosity. Imagine being that good at something and not wanting anybody to know about it -- so cool. The Kode 9 mix is interesting, not least for Mary Anne's interjections...she's a madser, hyperbolic is not the word! Still, her heart's in the right place!

  12. FluxCapacitor says Cheers for the lovely comment, Poe. "Burial certainly sounds like my kind of guy" I'd make the introductions if I could! And I reckon the avatar was unconsciously inspired by your lovely range of "eye" photos. * *wink* *
