hmm. the short answer is no. but i am trying to make an animated something on iMovie. mostly because i have time to waste and nothing better to waste it on.
streaming is a pain so i just watched the first one. it reminds me of the vid for Mogwai's Hunted by a Freak.
No, you are the only one & a freak to boot, ahahahaha! Wow, who is that first song by?(oh never mind, I see it's Fuck Buttons(what a great band name, lol) Cool video, that song is intense w/the screaming!
2nd vid is ok, not as impressive as the first one. Really liked the song. 3rd vid/song was hilarious, loved that one!
@ Ilay - Hunted by a Freak sums up my romantic life, I must check it out. I'd love to see your animation when you're finished.
@ A1 - Yeah, the Fuck Buttons song is pretty intense. I love the Byrne and Eno song, too. Couldn't stop playing it when I first heard it. As for the 3rd one, acting the fool comes very naturally...too naturally. ;)
Oh you creative li'l devils! Very nice - and, as I'd expect, spiffy song choices.
Ta, Mike. Yep, the songs were very inspiring. Shame they got butchered in the process!
Oooh nice! The first one is my favourite.....Colin Witch Project!
I don't do this (although maybe I should, it looks like it could be fun!), but when I was finishing college I picked my dissertation {is that what you call it?} to be the direction, production, and editing a music video of a song I loved, Garbage's Push It. No, I'm not in it (but a hot friend of mine is), and no, you'll never see it...I'll take it to me grave! :P
{something in that 4 line long sentence is not proper English, but I'm not sure I can place, so please do ignore it}
{"I can place IT"! I'm terribly sorry, apparently I don't have enough nicotine in my blood yet and I'm not functioning well}
My phone looks like this:
Which makes it a bit awkward when it take it out of my pocket to film anything...
Seriously though, I really the amateur "Brazil" kind of aesthetics in What will become when we are gone"? -- The obvious anwswer to the song-question is:
Your English is perfect - trust me, I'm an editor.
I would love to see your Garbage video, as somebody with training will likely know what they're doing, unlike me! Maybe you can put it in your last will and testament for me after you pop your clogs. And yeah, they are great fun to make. There's a group (or online club) dedicated to making these types of videos on Vimeo. The first one has got quite a lot of viewings on Vimeo and the second one has been reblogged by a German chap. But I won't give up the day job just yet...
@ Michael - Heh, heh. Put wheels on it and you've got a mobile.
"Brazil", Gillian's flick? Yes, I like it. And "amateur" is the operative word, all right!
VAS IS DIST? BOWIE SPRECKEN DER DEUTSCH?!!!
When I worked for a newspaper my editor would always say to me "trust me, I'm an editor" and it went in one ear and out the other. But I'm gonna trust you (it's in my best interest anyway) :)
"Somebody who knows what they're doing" is a stretch, to be honest, but since you'll only see it after I've popped my clogs {hahahahah} and you can't speak ill of the dead, I won't deny it.
Ooohhh someone is turning into a Vimeo celebrity! You better not start cheating on us with them....
Yea, some people just come naturally to the acting a fool bit, heh. And that's actually GilliaM(w/an M not an N), Terry Gilliam who did the movie 'Brazil'. ADORE that movie!
There goes my editor credentials!
S'ok, we all make mistakes, hehe
ok, wow, I want to do this kind of stuff, see, but every electronic device that is in any way portable (save my iPod) has been destroyed by my son and his snowboarding fetish.
my griping behind me, those stills in the FB vid are incredibly colored and processed...kudos to Jill and Clara...and as Anna noted, your negative vids in same are quite witchy.
Now that you are new and improved, what's next??
I hear you on the destruction of electronics. It's like every time our teen comes away from a computer or iPod there's something irretrevably altered about it, she has a reverse midas touch in that dept. But if she's doing something creative - like those beautiful forest photos - then I don't mind. If it's anything to do with Bebo then there's a lot of bitching and moaning from me.
What's next for the new and improved me? Well, there's a piece of corn stuck between my teeth for the past couple of months - this month I'm totally going to get rid.
so then, we start calling you "Flossy"? (doh!)
Didn't Marty Scorcese start this way? Though with a big old fashioned green phone, obviously.
@ Scot - Flossy? I'd very much like that.
@ Jonh - Yep, and if he'd used a real camera he might have got the Oscar sooner.
I'm more likely to throw a scrappy faux-album cover together for a friend but this looks like fun, Floss. I especially like the beginning of the first one with the spiraling (screaming?) trees; and I love number two ... both the song and the lo-fi black and white. I'm going to have a teen girl on my hands in two months as well ... thanks for the heads-up, it looks like I'll have Bebo and trashed counter tops to look forward to for the next five or so years. ;)
Erin, thanks for taking time away from your busy faux-album cover making activities to have a look. Although I'd love to see what a graphics pro like yourself would come up with - I'd say the song and visuals would knock Scorsese into a cocked hat.
Sorry to hear the news of the impending teenagerhoodness in your home. I'm going to find out if there's a patron saint of moms of teenagers, and say a prayer for you. Oh, Bebo is the big thing all right. Jill has had to lay down some strict Beboing laws in the house lately. "One hour over the entire weekend! For example! If you have fifteen minutes today! You get 45 tomorrow!" Our teen had a way of making "I'll get off Bebo in just a minute" stretch to four or five hours. Please keep me informed on your progress. We could start a support network. ;)
for shame! i am just popping up now to tell you how much i loved watching these. and how are the new & improved socks treating you? (just had to ask...cuz who else would ask ya!)
