I watched this in amazement when the episode of Spectacle: Elvis Costello with...Lou Reed premiered this past Wednesday night (it runs each Wednesday @ 9 PM EST) with Elvis interviewing- and jamming- with Lou Reed.

The repeat broadcast times are here (though no indication is given if this is EST or PST):

Current Showings: Sunday December 14, 2:00PM

Tuesday December 16, 12:00AM

Wednesday December 31, 6:00PM

I encourage you to seek this out. In addition to a humorous discourse on the fluke that made the chords to Sweet Jane legendary, Elvis and Lou jam at the end on a wonderful duet- Elvis on plugged in acoustic guitar and Lou on a fuzz-toned electric and the thing just builds incredibly well- it was simply mesmerizing! They only show a :41 second clip on the website- doesn't do it justicce- see the show and be sure not to miss the jam in the last 10 minutes, right to the end credits as you hear guest film director Julian Schnabel (the Diving Bell and the Butterfly and Lou Reed's Berlin) gushing over how sensational they were!

He happens to be right.

Yeah, I decided to pay the cable goniffs (this is a technical term, but I know you get the meaning) additional money every month to add Sundance to what is otherwise too many channels just to get Elvis's show. Both the Lou Reed and the first show with Elton John were enlightening, entertaining and by the way, the back up band with Alan Toussaint, James Burton and the like is killer. I know Lou is difficult to interview, but this show demonstrated new facets. Julian Schnabel apprently has the long lyrics to Rock and Roll Minuet committed to memory. Berlin itself is so cathartic, I am not sure any kind of extra material or encore is a good idea; if you watch the DVD you will see what I mean. Elvis's show is a must see.

Thanks for the comment. I will have to check out the Berlin DVD.

And you are right- I neglected to point out how kickin' the band on the show is with Toussaint- but they were not a factor on the Elvis-Lou duet at the end.
