About Luka Bloom:

Luka Bloom (original name Barry Moore) is a singer/songwriter from Ireland. Before Luka became a solo artist he played with his brother Christy Moore in the band Moving Hearts. Beginning his career in America, Moore released three albums under that name in the 70s and 80s before turning to Europe and changing his name.

Famous for his finger plucking technique on the guitar, Luka played a distinct style of Irish folk music, but after he developed tendonitis in his hands he was forced to change how he played. Experimenting with various guitar styles his music began to incorporate new influences such as reggae and soul.

After the release of 'Riverside' in 1990, Luka Bloom's career really took off. He began touring Europe and Ireland. More recently Bloom has taken to covering popular artists of many genres including, LL Cool J, Abba, Bob Marley and even Elvis. 'Eleven Songs' (2008) sees Luka playing many instrumental songs, adding another style to his album catalogue.
