They used to say the Velvet Underground never sold that many records, but every person who bought one of their albums went out and started a band. Mission of Burma was the same kind of thing in the 1980s. I heard Vs. and was inspired to start my own band, and tons of other indie rockers had the same experience. If you check out the work of our band, The Long Afternoon, you'll hear the influence of Mission of Burma and especially guitarist Roger Miller. The Big Takeover even compared our vocals to Roger Miller AND Clint Conley's in their review of our first record. At any rate, if you're not already listening to Mission of Burma, you should start NOW.
