White Chocolate Mix

Posted over 5 years ago
So anyways, on Bob Loblaw's mogpage, he's got a video for Steely Dan's "Peg." A jam?.....yes! And then he had some tune by George Michael, "Too Funky," I'm already listening to that Hall & Oates track, Boz Scaggs' "Lowdown" and Bobby Caldwell has been hyped to all hell ever since he was sampled by Common for "The Light." So what does all this mean? I'm thinkin' it's time for a "White Chocoloate" mixtape. That's right.....soul, funk, and breaks by the pasty people, the pigmentally challenged, the albino mafia, the snow people - whiteskins! So if you have any suggestions, send me a message I'd really appreciate it. I know there's this Tom Jones jam that I got to hunt down, and check out the tag for a mind blower......a funky-as- armpitslime break by none other than Bette Midler! The gods must be crazy...- Erik B )sans Rakim(

  1. bob loblaw says White Chocolate Mixtape...incredible. If you haven't seen it yet, you should also check out Yacht Rock. It's a low-budget show on Channel 101 that goes into the stories behind the smoothest of the smooth hits from the likes of the doobie brothers, steely dan, hall and oates, etc. Amazing and a potential source of inspiration for the tape.

  4. joshuaseth says "Don't just stand there bust a move!" Never heard the Midler track. Awesome. Can't forget that Billy Joel had some joints circa 77-78. The Stranger and 52nd St had some choice breaks. Theres also Joe Cocker (Woman to Woman) and Eric Clapton (I shot the Sherrif) David Bowie (Fame) Are you considering the Jazz Lite cats like Bob James. Tom Scott and Enoch Light? Or Dennis Coffey, Galt MacDermot or David Axelrod or Electric Prunes? Holla!
