Which Song Drove You Crazy This Year?

Posted about 3 years ago

Two years ago, it was probably "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. Last year, it was probably "1234" by Feist or "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John. What is the most overplayed song of this year?

I suspect many of us don't frequent the traditional forms of mainstream music too often- Top 40 radio, iTunes Top 10 singles, MTV Music Awards, Forever 21, The Limited, Gap, The Mall..., but there are other ways to hear certain songs over and over...and over again. Aren't there?

I'll second (or first actually) the notion that Coldplay's "Viva La Viva" (the song) was plastered everywhere in TV commericials this year. I watch a good amount of NFL football so i saw the car commercial w/ JUSTICE (add all the '.'s' in between the letters yourself) and their song "Genesis" a lot. After looking at the hot singles now, I can't say I've even heard T Pain, TI (enter the '.'s' yourself), Britney, Nickelback, Beyonce or even Lil' Wayne or Kanye singles. I've only heard The Fray's "You Found Me" because of its connection w/ Lost. I don't know who Zach Brown or Lady Gaga are.

What's annoyed you this past year because I guess I just don't pay enough attention...?

This is the easiest end of the year question I've been asked so far! I manage to avoid a lot, but for reasons related to friends and circumstance, I was subjected to Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" over and over and over this summer.  ughhhh!

Everytime I hear the title to that song, I think of the Jill Souble song.  I'm pretty sure I know the Katy Perry one if I heard it but thankfully it's not in my head at this moment...yet.

genius answer, d! i bet there's a whoooole lotta katy perry that's playing throughout the malls as i type this. and that it's the same title as that jill sobule song just makes it doubley annoying.

i've gotta say, "little bit" by lykke li ended up really driving me crazy.

2008 definitely makes me think of lil wayne - "A MILLI, A MILLI, A MILLI, A MILLI!" there was a week where i was way too overexposed to it, often from loud cars passing me. not to mention there were "a milli " remixes made of that track.

I still like the coldplay song but I think that is because I dont listen to the radio. I will say that stupid beyonce song about a ring and a finger makes me want to shoot myself.............no really

Both good ones.  I don't know where we'd be w/o annoying, overplayed songs.  Probably bored to death.

I am SO grateful that I don't listen to radio, as I've not been exposed to either song. Not looking to hear them now, either.

I honestly have no idea what's going on in the decadent media world, but I'd guess I Kissed A Girl, too :)

I am subjected to the radio every day at work.  There were a number of annoying songs out this year.  First - I hate Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocket Full of Sunshine" song sooo much!  Especially the part where she's humming along with the tune of the song. It drives me mad.  Next I have to agree with everyone that Katy Perry is awful.  Then there's the "Keep Bleedin'" song.  And the one that goes "shake shake, shake shake, shh-shake it."  There are so many more, this is just off the top of my head.  I really hate that I know the words to all these songs.

I think Katy Perry wins.  Although Rihanna's "Disturbia" came in a close second for me.

The fact that I heard the name Katy Perry way too much this year is proof that the song had to be way overplayed everywhere///
