Workout Songs.

I don't know about you guys, but I can't last more than five minutes on a treadmill if I don't have music. Maybe its because of the distraction and the beats but honestly, if I forget my ipod on the way to the gym there not much point in me going.Recently the rain has kept me from working out so today I set up a little home 'gym'. I got out my jump rope and hit play on my "Sweat Baby Sweat" pla...

As I listened to Ms. Apple belt out "No not baby anymore..." I wondered why exactly this guy had lost his luster. For some reason this question stuck, and I longed for the answer. I started thinking what exactly I'd say to the Fabulous Fiona, or any of my favorite artists and what i'd want to do if i could hang out with them... well one thought led to another and after long consideration i figu...

Strange Fruit

Strange Fruit is a song that i have an enourmous amount of respect for, as it was playing i wanted to know a little more about it. Apparently it started out as a poem orignally by *Abel Meeropol.* He was shown picture of a lynching which inspired him to write Strange Fruit. He was introduced to Billie Holiday and she right away wanted to do a recording. Her label didn't like the song, but she was

Jesus Christ Superstar?

At my most recent voice lesson we decided since the musical is just around the corner we might as well pick my audition song. We were browsing when she found what she said would be great for my voice. The song: I Don't Know How to...

The Truth About Music

I have recently come to believe that most people limit themselves when it comes to music. If you look at the tags to this post you'll see that the artists all belong to very different genres, but they have all played on my itunes with in the last 15 minutes. I hate how people get about music sometimes, they won't listen to something just because it's a little out of their comfort zone.I find it...

The Right Jazz

For a while now, i've been looking for some good vocal jazz. When my voice teacher gave me the peice Lullaby of Bird Land to work on it gave me the perfect reason to look more into it. While i was browsing through the many renditions i fell upon Sarah Vaughans. And lucky for me because she was the exact thing i was looking for. After that, well you could say i got a little distracted. She

The perfect song at the perfect moment...

For the past week i've been music deprived and slightly unhappy with my collection. So today I finally sat down and scanned my music, but ended up disapointed. After almost 15 minutes of pressing the next button and listening to tid-bits of unsatisfing songs I nearly gave up. But I hit next one more time.At that moment a long neglected song started to play, and I got that lovely feeling that i'm s
