WHERE MUSIC IS WORTH MORE THAN MONEY

I got a private show from Irving when they swung through DC in Nov. They played an unannounced set before my friends The Fake Accents at Rock & Roll Hotel. I may not have mentioned this before, but I LOVE this band. I used to play tracks off of Good Morning Beautiful on my old radio show all the time, but Death in the Garden, Blood on the Flowers is _easily one of my favorite albums of this past year_. When I saw that they didn't have a DC stop on their tour, I even considered going to NYC to catch their show.

I was rewarded for laziness, 'cause they showed up and played just for me.... and they couldn't have made me happier. Due to the early hour and lack of publicity, the only people there were me, the other bands, some bartenders and someone's girlfriend. It was pretty evident that I was the only person who knew who they were (shame), and about halfway through I shouted a request. After that, they just asked me what I wanted to hear. While this may not have been totally rewarding for the band, I was totally thrilled. Irving rules.

They are my friend on myspace, which means I like them... but I am not that familiar with their music.

Right on Emily! I love this band too! I live in Los Angeles and feel very lucky to see these guys play around town on a fairly regular basis. They are a very talented bunch. I agree that "Death In The Garden..." is one of the best new albums I heard last year. I still listen to it all the time. You might check out the side projects that the Irving boys have going on. Alex Church, Aaron Burrows and various friends are "Sea Wolf." Steven Scott, Brian Canning and friends are "Afternoons." Both side project bands have myspace pages, check 'em out!

We're so pleased you guys have such kind things to say about Irving! We love them too, that's one of the many reasons we signed them!

You missed a great show in New York; Halloween was incredible! But we are really glad you got a chance to see them in DC.

Irving will be touring Europe this Spring, so keep checking back for road journals and other surprises!

Thanks! EMRecords
