DC Radar: Georgie James

I know that this is a little early to tout the tour, but DC-based "Georgie James":http://www.georgiejames.com is going to have a lot of fans by the time their record comes out. John Davis (formerly of "Q and Not U":http://www.qandnotu.com) and Laura Burhenn (formerly solo) have a great 70s-influenced guy/girl pop thing going. They'll be touring the country with Camera Obscura this July 6th- July 30th and recording an album in August.I agree with my friend Dave over at "SD":http://soidisantra.typepad.com/soi_disantra/2006/06/shows_diary_mar.html that "More Lights":http://www.myspace.com/georgiejames is the song to hear. I had their demo on constant repeat in my car for a few weeks and never tired of it. Listening to them makes me happy. _Who Knew?_: Singer and keyboardist Laura met her fiance on Myspace. I work with John.

    exnicios says So it's good to see that something good (Georgie James) has come from something bad (the untimely demise of Q and Not U). In a cold, dark, post Dismemberment Plan world, the District needs more of this type thing. Holla.

    exnicios says And one more thing while I'm at it-how was Dungen? Did they have their act together from an equipment standpoint? I've seen them thrice, and two of the shows were completely shown up by the lead guitarists' battle with his converter, crazy european equipment and what not...
