Went and bought the new Beck cd today, have listened to it 4 times in a row. It's a strange phenomenon with Beck reviews. When Guero came out, I saw heaps of reviews where people were so glad he was going back to his alt-pop styles after the mellow beauty of Sea Change. Then when The Information came out, every review I read said how good it was he was getting back to form since they all thought

So the job seems pretty cruisy, the day went quickly, everyone was nice and chilled and the work is methodically relaxing (which in two months time could mean boring... wait and see). Drive there, Black Keys 'Attack and Release'. Drive home, Beck 'The Information'. Both worked beautifully for the right mood.. On a side note, I'm salivating over the new Beck/Danger Mouse record... JUST DROP ALR

So I've been pretty slack on posting since returning from Japan. Since there aren't any more proper tours til the end of the year, I've decided to get myself.... a FULL TIME JOB! And an office job no less. Luckily it still involves music, its pretty much ordering scores and charts for schools and making sure they get delivered. so that's a plus, but its going to be a bit of a spin to not be...

I'm going to avoid naming people or places so as not to cause trouble. So we're on tour, a few of us go to a pub to check out a gig. Meet some 'stars' from Long Beach. Total divas. Way too cool for school, even though they're playing a little shitty venue and we've been headlining festivals. They're talking down to us, objectifying the girls, making racist jokes about their japanese tour staff

So I'm touring Japan at the moment, the gigs have been great, the people are so enthusiastic. It's awesome! I still find it weird if people want photos or for me to sign something, but I'll get over it. Have noticed a huge dub and reggae culture here, which I'm loving. Have heard a bit of cheesy Japanese pop which is kind of fun. Other than that its the same saturation of Hollywood and Ame...

Finally, FINALLY, Flight of the Conchords is getting aired in Australia. It's been my favourite show for a long time and I've been telling everyone that would listen how funny this show is. Of course people generally just roll their eyes and say 'yeah, sounds great' and then forget about it. Plus its hard to describe the plot while doing justice to it. But now they'll all be watching, its gett

Artist:
I am just loving Beirut right now, absolutely blown away. Its the same feeling of beauty, chances and possibilities in music that I felt when I first heard other artists that inspire me such as Sufjan Stevens and Jackson Jackson. Its so refreshing to hear something that wakes you up from the insipid and cliched the way that this did.

That's right, I'm going to take what little money I have and head to the cd store before work. Yes that's right, you heard me, I still buy cd's. I don't buy downloads, or ringtones, and I try to use downloading only as a gateway in to a band, before spending the ca$h on them. So if anyone checks this in time, any last minute recommendations would be sweet. Thinking Beirut, Black Keys and Cody

Ok, finally, after spending all arvo trying every lil thing to get this goddam MoM working, it's finally all here... all my music, listed in all its beauty and wisdom (well there's a few skeletons in the closet..) Still, I was bloody determined to get this going and I have, so pat on the back for me. Now to go trawling and perving on everyone else's collections... mwuah ha ha ha...
