NEW Jimmy Eat World!! Finally a new Effing album!

Sooo after Futures came out in '04, My "Jimmy Ears" were molded to a newer, stronger, more refined Jim and Crew and I liked it. Not to say that Clarity and the fine pieces of work before and after it weren't great as well, but Futures brought in a new era, and so in that tradition, Chase This Light enters the collection.

I have yet to sit down and have a "session" with this album as I like to call it, where I put on some coffee, turn out the lights, put on my headphones and listen to the album over and over, to really get the feel of it, feel how it progresses, what feeling it leaves me with or until I it drives me nuts. Hopfully it doesn't come to that BUT, having explained that, my first impressions of this album are very good. "Big Casino" the first single, reminds us that pop-rock, doesn't have to be shit-rock. While they have strayed into some new sounds, and BTW Jim's vocals on this one are wonderful. (Did his voice actually get higher??) By the end, you get that warm fuzzy feeling all over again and remember:
"So that's what a Jimmy Eat World album feels like?"

Thumbs way up on this one.

Shiny Toy Guns

So I have found myself investigating electro-pop, glam-rock and I have found Shiny Toy Guns...actually I saw them play Conan. If you feel like transporting back to the dance halls of the 1980's while still maintaing your "hipster" cred, here's your phonebooth So-crates.

Wow.. yeah I said it. LOL I am standing by it.

Inara George

This woman has one of the most soothing and poetic means of musicianship that I have ever heard. She's wonderful and I got the chance to see her live in the spring of '06 in a really intimate venue and she completely took me by suprise. I can't even discribe the combinations of influences, but what ever she has put together works great!

Give her a listen and let me know what you think!

Woman with the Lungs!

I am personally more a fan of her theater work, even though her solo work is also lovely. What I can say for sure though, is this woman has lungs! Holy shit. I saw her in NYC with the original cast of Wicked and I was moved to tears by her voice.
