i didn't want to like her. especially after reading about those weird "i hate myself and i want to die because im fat"-esque posts on her myspace.. and finding out she's such a shit-talker, bundled in a million different feuds with other celebrities.

but i can't help it anymore! her songs are infectious and a refreshing kind of new pop sound. and if you've ever wondered why the spice girls don't sound british when they sing, listen to lily allen cuz she's SO british that it makes her songs ten times more fun to listen to.

if you never listened to a word of what she was saying and only listened to the music, you would think lily is a nice little british girl. but contrary to that, i love the juxtaposition of her sweet melodies mixed with sadistc, dark undertones in her music. like her hit single "smile" has got you thinking, "aww, how cute, like corinne bailey rae!" and then you hear the lyrics and she's really singing, "at first, when i see you cry, it makes me smile, yeah it makes me smile."

love it or hate it, but you still gotta admit she's one cool chick.
