WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Waay Ahead of His Time

You have got to see this video to believe it. I really don't listen to a lot of fifties rock, but I saw this years ago, and it has haunted me since. Finding this video has singlehandedly justified the entire existence of youtube. CHECK IT OUT!The first two minutes are not the part I am on about, though. The quality of the video is not so hot, and it is really when he starts BBAL that the performance becomes hypnotic and truly awe-inspiring.This is my first embedded video ever, and I doubt I will find another that moves me like this. Enjoy.

  1. Iren says Amazing stuff... just think of the rock history that we have forgotten or let slip past us... I dug seeing the Blue Caps (Vincent's band) rockin out like that, they might have been one of the first bands to do that on stage in front of that many people..

  3. Terry Staunton says Be Bop A Lula contains two of the finest moments in rock 'n' roll history: 1. Just before the first guitar solo, when Gene shouts "Let's rock!" 2. Just before the second guitar solo, when Gene shouts "Let's rock again!" Doesn't get much better than that, does it?
