For the most part, I think that the Pitchforkmedia reviews are complete rubbish, so I was reluctant to listen to this top rated new album. It seems that the team over at PFM decided to put their finger back on the Indie music pulse for this one. The artist's name is Sam Amidon, and he hails from Vermont but lives in New York, NY. The music is reminiscent of something your father or grandfather listened to but still remains relevant today - like an old family portrait. I've only heard a few of the tracks and am eager to listen to the rest. I'd liken Sam Amidon to Beirut using New World instrumentation. You could throw a little Sufjan Stevens, Townes Van Zandt, and Woodie Guthrie in the mix too. The new album is called All is Well, and it's now out on the Bedroom Community Label.
