TAKE OFF YOUR SOCKS LEST THEY BE KNOCKED

The Child is Gone

Posted 22 days ago

Never having been one for the soothing, haunting voices of an "older" crooner, my edge of seventeen soul has been (to date) too enraptured by the classic, 'emo' screams of too-loud rock bands with their somewhat paltry and lacking, (in comparison to her) lyrics.

But yesterday, in a fit of desperation to soothe the aching something felt by my jaded teen spirit, I stumbled across the soulful crooning of Fiona Apple, whose voice (pure sex) left me all shivery puddle of endless goo and feisty awakenings.

The Child is Gone by Fiona Apple only serves to highlight the strength of a woman that is so severely lacking in so many modern, R&B songs, even within the lyrics spewed out by "feminist" artistes like Missy Elliot, Beyonce etc.

It screams of a quiet sophistication with a voice that rocks a sultry edge adding to the powerful image of a girl coming free from her restraints, with the final product being altogether feminine and altogether chic in a way that was lost with Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

And with these clumsy words, I leave you to the shivers-inducing Fiona Apple, and The Child is Gone on loop in your iTunes and hope to hell you enjoy it just as much as I do.
