StylisticBlackaliciousSpongebobHubbardJacksonistic -Makes the World Go Round

Posted over 4 years ago
As I posted that Hubbard track the other day I remembered a track I quite liked off of Polar AC which I thought was sampled by Blackalicious on their first EP, Melodica.Well it wasn't Hubbard, and after doing the searching I'm still not sure where the sample came from. What I did find out is that The Stylistics "People Make the World Go Round" has got to be one of the most covered songs around. I like the original, but I really like the Freddie Hubbard version, and that early Blackalicious ain't that bad either. So without further ado....The original:The Sample:
The Hubbard Cover:
The Spongebob remix:Michael Jackson:You thought that was it huh?Nah, I saved a decent one for last. You may want to take a break and come back later if you are sick of this song. I know I am.Carl Craig's Innerzone Orchestra:
Ok Ok thats it I swear I won't put you through Alicia Keys, Marcus Miller .... uhh if you know any others, please don't tell me.

  1. Dzendvokh says Ok folks I know, I screwed up the comments again. Guess I will have to stop this multiple mp3 thing and stick to the tried and true. Either that or learn some HTML, cause I don't really have a clue

  5. Cody B says What a great song and excellent post. So many have done it so well. I also have a Milt Jackson (similar to the Freddie H. but the vibes fit the song well), Chuck Brown (a decent go-go version with the audience providing the chorus), Marc Dorsey (a modern soul remake). When I used to Dj in a lounge setting I would take the Pharoahs(see below-kind of a afro-jazz thang w a 7 minute intro) , mix it into the Milt Jackson, then right when the chorus came up I'd drop in the Stylistics SorryDz, I gotta share 2 of my faves... ~VJ859sHuzeb.mp3~ ~ROH4x9iGt43.mp3~

  7. Dzendvokh says I was just kidding about "other versions". Cody, I really like the Pharoahs take, that intro is spooky and then when it drops into the melody, really nice. As for the multiple posting. I will write up something on it and send it out to those who inquired.

  10. Dzendvokh says So the way I did it: First get the HTML code from the "embed" feature. Doesn't matter where it comes from, could be from anyone's post. Copy that to the post you want multiple mp3's in. Then in a new tab upload an mp3. Then copy that excluding the ~ symbol at either end. Go back to the post you are working on and find the TWO places where there is an mp3 listed (In the original case that string of letters and numbers will refer to whoever's blog you got the embed code from) replace the existing mp3 at both places, with the one you just uploaded. Next find the line that begins with: flashvars="info=http//mog.com/1/(here is where you replaced your uploaded mp3 with the one that was there already).mp3"> Go to the end of that line and delete all that comes after the last bit : .mp3"> That is delete from -br - table . . . . "all the way to the end. Include the symbol before br, I can't write it here because it shows up as HTML and is not seen by you all in the comments. Does that sound complicated? Its actually not. I don't know HTML at all and just made some educated guesses. You can screw things up if you delete or leave just one little symbol so it may take a couple of tries to get the hang of. I think we should lobby the powers that be to get rid of that rule. I mean everyone uploads in the comments anyways, and I like the ability to tell a story and relate multiple songs to it, within the text.

  12. Bartleby says This is brilliant post. The song is lush in variety and arrangements. I really like its riches. Proof it is how many covers, re-interpretation it's lent to. Let me thank also for showing us the way to be a MOG-delinquent with your tip for posting multiple mp3s in one entry. Thanks ever so much.
