My friend, who I see far too infrequently, mainly due to our locations and his constant gigging around the world is half of VNV Nation; I say this upfront as this post could be taken as some friendship based sycophantic bollocks, it's not though.I first heard that Mark was 'in a group' whilst we both worked at CompuServe back in the early days of the internet, I was an eCommerce guy who relied on Mark's superb coding, programming and 'illegal' graphic design capabilities. I say 'illegal' as CompuServe had processes and I've never been good at being told to do something if there is an easier and quicker way and Mark helped me do it better and quicker - we became friends. We've kissed (tongues and everything!), and he's a bit rough, but I like that!! No we are not gay! Just one of those sometimes mad things we did. We both got drunk one night and went to a club and got even more drunk and applied to be bouncers - if you look at the video below(if I can manage to embed it properly) you'll note the guy is big - he is 6'7" and I am 6'2" and 300 pounds - so we are big guys - I make up for him being 5 inches taller by being heavier - ok fatter! The applications took a turn for the worse when at the end of the night we were both rolling around the floor of said club wrestling each other!!Anyway - so I knew Mark was in this band but when I heard what sort of music they played I was instantly a fan of the band rather than just 'my friend in the band'... I like an eclectic mix of music and I'm def no 'goth' - but the VNV sound is something I like a lot. Now, I've never seen them live - my fault - I've been invited many times and I have always been unabel to make it - so they have a tour and they are coming to Canada (I live in Ottawa), more specifically Montreal in April and they have a new album out as well - so I'm very happy.Mark - if you read this - can't wait to see you and eventually see VNV in concerto!!
