- I don't want to know. I don't need it. I don't want the information that millions of people have. I don't want to be fed these boring facts and figures. Then you'll become one of the masses. I'd rather starve my mind a bit and have to search out

To many times, I hear people say it is a compromise. They give up parts and pieces of themselves, for relationships, jobs, family, etc. After a while though, how much of it, is what's needed to survive, and how much is it lack of a back bone. Too many people seem to have no sense of self anymore. Just rambling here, after getting tired of hearing the same story with different names and faces.
"Willing To Fight"
The windows of my soul are made of one way glass don't bother looking into my eyes if there's something you want to know, just ask I got a dead bolt stroll where I'm going is clear I won't wait for you to wonder I'll just tell you why I'm here
'cause I know the biggest crime is just to throw up your hands say this has nothing to do with me I just want to live as comfortably as I can you got to look outside your eyes you got to think outside your brain you got to walk outside you life to where the neighborhood changes
tell me who is your boogieman that's who I will be you don't have to like me for who I am but we'll see what you're made of by what you make of me I think that it's absurd that you think I am the derelict daughter I fight fire with words words are hotter than flames words are wetter than water
I got friends all over this country I got friends in other countries too I got friends I haven't met yet I got friends I never knew I got lovers whose eyes I've only seen at a glance I got strangers for great grandchildren I got strangers for ancestors
I was a long time coming I'll be a long time gone you've got your whole life to do something and that's not very long so why don't you give me a call when you're willing to fight for what you think is real for what you think is right
Alright, I dont know about everyone else, but Im dragging after this weekend. I found this great clip of PJ Harvey singing on the Tonight Show, starts off slow but she rocks it out by the end...nice little interview with Jay after. Anyone else have some good rocking tunes to get energized to get through this pile on my desk?~?~?~

try the album Fantastic Planet by Failure, im actually listening to it right now
nice. It was cool to see her play alone and with a full band, though I did enjoy her alone more. She has a great voice and amazing breath control and vocal inflections.
This one? Yeah that did the trick...thanks hun :)

Wow...for the first time I want to hear Ani Di Franco. My mind instantly went to another song as I read these lyrics (and your post)...whereas Ani's song is a defiant "fuck you, call me when you get your shit together" kind of song, the song I thought of is the other end of the spectrum...when you've given yourself over completely. To the point that you don't even know who you are. And you can never go back. This little ditty's by Nine Inch Nails...it's called "Gave Up"...
perfect little dream the kind that hurts the most forgot how it feels well almost no one to blame always the same open my eyes wake up in flames it took you to make me realize it took you to make me realize it took you to make me realize it took you to make me see the light smashed up my sanity smashed up my integrity smashed up what i believed in smashed up what's left of me smashed up my everything smashed up all that was true gonna smash myself to pieces i don't know what else to do covered in hope and vaseline still cannot fix this broken machine watching the hole it used to be mine just watching it burn in my steady systematic decline of the trust i will betray give it to me i throw it away after everything i've done i hate myself for what i've become i tried i gave up throw it away
Thanks for the nod..think we all feel that way at times, good to hear what we're thinking validated or agreed with in some way...another good think about music gets to the spirit of the matter...cut away the bs.....
Gakker, man, you know I love your tastes in music :) I definitely see the two sides of the fence, and I guess depending on the emotions Im feeling, I turn to either of these artists, to get at them, live/breathe it til things settle down.
"Sin"
You give me the reason. You give me control. I gave you my Purity. My Purity you stole. Did you think I wouldn't recognize this compromise. Am I just too stupid to realize. Stale incense old sweat and lies lies lies
[Chorus:] It comes down to this. Your kiss. Your fist. And your strain. It get's under my skin. Within. Take in the extent of my sin
You give me the anger. You give me the nerve. Carry out my sentence. While I get what I deserve. I'm just an effigy to be disgraced. To be defaced. Your need for me has been replaced. And if I can't have everything well then just give me a taste.
[Chorus]
