Back in the early 90's, 93 to be exact. I was out of a recent relationship and had not yet hooked up with the woman that would soon be my wife. I had this friend and her name was Jen, she was all about the underground scene. I don't remember exactly how it happened, but we ended up going out as friends to this local dive (that only lasted about a year and a half) called The Rhumba Box. It was dead set in the middle of the winter and the place did not have a heater one in the place except one of those jet engine looking blowers that shoots the flames out the front of it, and the lights on the stage. We had arrived to see and hear Girls Against Boys. I had only heard them earlier that afternoon at a local record store that I used to frequent (till it died back a year or two ago). I was totally blown away! Those guys kicked my butt up one side and down the other. And to top it off we got to see Brainiac (a band that I had never heard of at the time) supporting their recent debut release of Smack Bunny Baby, but that is another post. I'll never forget that night. It was one of the coolest (no pun intended) shows I have ever been to.

So so so jel...one of my favourite bands of all time, and I never got to see them live. They has a show in Athens last year, but I couldn't travel to see them...
LUCKY SOD!
:)
Yeah, they were killer live. Two bass players (one of which also played keys) on stage. It was frightfully intense!
