WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

You know something that has annoyed me recently. I saw someone on here mention a site run by ebay called half.com..esentially cheap cds...now who doesn't like that....anyway....because I am from the UK I cannot use it, and man it would come in handy. I shall explain why...Just over 10 years ago, I loved the Eels and I thought Beautiful Freak was such a great album...I still do to be honest. Then Electro-Shock Blues came out, and although it took me a little longer to get into, I loved that album too.Then...for no reason whatsoever...I lost total interest in Eels and never picked up another album again. That was untill one day last September when I was visiting the record store I used to run and noticed they had the recently released Live: With Strings album in their sale..it was cheap so I went for it.Not only is it a great live album, but it has also made me question why I shunned this band in the first place...and to be honest I had no reason. So recently I have made it my job to track down all the albums I miseed and get them as cheap as possible (so far having picked up Dasies and Souljacker for less than £5...which is $10 for my american friends out there)So two more to go (three if you include the Oh What A Beautiful Morning live album, which was a limited edition)So I will keep plugging away at ebay and the like to pick up the remaining albums! So here is a nice Eels track from the Live: With Strings album since it helped me get back in to them in a big wayBy the way, if anyone knows why as a UK resident I cannot use Half.com please let me know. I have asked the question with them, but as yet no response!!

  1. five-four says I'm from the USA and getting Japanese imports of albums (Iron and Wine + extra tracks) is a pain. I'm in need of novacaine.

  3. Dompaczko says Five-four: I used to work at Tower Records here in the UK and imports were not really a problem....but this half.com thing is annoying me...I mean if I can order off ebay why cannot I not order from a site run by ebay...meh to it! Oceanrain....its certainly strange why I lost track of them, maybe it was when I went through my teenage punk years, and I think to fully appreciate them you need to have quite a mature taste in music perhaps...I don't know! Thank you both for your comments!!!

  4. contrabandwidth says Here's a link to a trick that Russians do to order things online from US sites. I don't know if it will work, maybe try it with something cheap.

  5. Dompaczko says Hmmm, well maybe that would be worh a try. I had a response from half.com today which said that the reason they do not allow non USA residents to buy is because of the shipping rates!?!?! They said they would be unable to work out the shipping rates to other countries...yet amazon market place manages to do this no problem! Of course they said they are hoping to do it in the future....yeah....sure! If anyone knows of any other sites that are similar....let me know!

  6. contrabandwidth says There's also lala.com . I don't know what their shipping stuff is like, and I haven't checked it out. But it's worth a try.
