""Tried to be good..tried to keep from trouble..living too fast ..trying to make good on the hustle..." Hamilton's gravelly rasp, brings what is essentially the '07 version of a cotton-field hymn/lament. But this modernised blues standard telling of urban decay is delivered with a syrupy bluesy bassline and keyboard, that combined with Hamilton's voice make it a moving track. Ain't No Villain's....Just Chillin' nice. "

Meko there are a couple of vids on youtube of people who have added their own keyboards and vocals to the track. If you end up adding some axe-work be sure to lemme get a peep at it. Cheers bro.

The classic made famous by Coltrane and Nat King Cole is given a treatment I would never have thought of. George Benson gives it a jazzy lounge beat and very subtle bass and moody key changes that make this one a pleasantly surprising find.

No worries...this treatment is a refreshing contrast to the original. Glad you liked it.

This virtual late 80's/early 90's anthem of intelligent political hiphop from the Bay Area's premiere hiphop maverick, Paris, was a mixture of all the right ingredients from its inception. From the historical Malcolm X sample used in the intro, to the slick cuts by Mad Mike of the "freez mofo" sample on the chorus, to Paris' razor sharp delivery, to that bassline...ahhh man that bassline.!!..this track was like a fuel-injected hiphop muscle car of a tune that hoons along at break neck speed from the first sample...until the chorus kicked in ....and that was when your NOS injection kicked in and fired and blew the speaker cones off your system. Unbeatable.
