This Is Priceless

Artist:
We've been practicing a lot of cover songs lately. Also switching around instruments. I feel like we're discovering a bunch of new bands that have been hiding inside our band.
Alas I was unsuccessful in convincing Satomi Ed and John to let me sing "Good Times Roll" by The Cars. But I guess it's just as well, as someone has beaten us to the punch:
It is indeed amazing to see this because when I was that age I was playing Cars covers too. Anyway I love The Cars dearly and wanted to share some favorites. First of all when Benjamin Orr starts singing with that beautiful voice, is there any doubt who Kurt Cobain's main vocal inspiration was? Even now as I'm thinking about it, I realize "Cruiser" is the same chord progression as "Heart Shaped Box" "Territorial Pissings" and "In Bloom".
Ric Ocasek once nominated a Deerhoof album for an award. To think he has even heard Deerhoof is a major thrill for someone as lost in admiration for his songwriting as I am.
And Greg Hawkes' nutty energy and musicianship is a serious inspiration to me. He's apparently from my hometown (Columbia Maryland), had a band called The Teeth (I had one too, with Aaron Russell from Weird Weeds and Steve Gigante from Dark Inside The Sun), and he has the best first name ever!

I'd love to add this to your post, not enough Cars love here. Mog can always use a little more, however '80's cheese it may be it's still gooood.
Benjamin Orr - Stay The Night
Hmm, The Cars/Nirvana influence I had never considered. In terms of Boston bands that influenced Nirvana, I had the Cars third or fourth on the list (behind Pixies, Mission of Burma, and perhaps Boston). But I may have to move them up now.
