WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Snow Is Gone

Now let me be the first to admit that I am not a country fan, and I am very (uneccesarily so) picky about what folk I dig.But Josh Ritter blows me away. Great songsmith. From Snow is Gone: "But I’m singing for the love of it—have mercy on the man who sings to be adored""I’d rather be the one who loves than to be loved and never even know"And as you might suspect, he has a heart as big as the midwest. I met him after a Frames show last fall and he hugged everyone who approached him, spoke for hours after the show with fans old and new (mostly new) and had really played like mad in the show, even doing the most darling duet with Glen Hansard of the Frames. He signed a promo CD to my daughter, "Your father and I love you very much!"Check him out. (He's on "eMusic":http://www.emusic.com/?tafisnid=C247085D05546F13C4B49EA8A126807F&fref=700040, which is awesome.)

  1. Jess Horrible says Wow, that is impressive. So then he's sort of folk country?

  2. Dean Browell says Yep- sorta. With a dash of rock- but just a pinch. Enough to make him dangerous.
