Just for the record, "Okonokos" is perhaps one of the finest-filmed concert DVD's I've ever had the pleasure to watch. And the first time I saw it I was watching on a tiny portable DVD player (my daughter had nabbed my iPod for "Little Einsteins").After a few repeat viewings, and based on the fact that I own umpteen (probably 30+) concert DVDs, I hereby declare it the best effort to truly capture what is going on at a show. The color is amazing, the clarity stunning, the sound perfect, and the surroundings preserved and explored. Whether you like the bizarre opening and closing (or middle-of-song-llama-shot), those are just asides to an incredible effort. Yes, it helps that I really like and appreciate MMJ, but they are not my favorite band. I do anticipate that NIN's "Beside You In Time" will probably swipe the mantle of best filmed when it reaches us in early 2007 but MMJ should be incredibly proud to have this film represent them, even if another live movie is never captured again. And FYI: The drummer-shot at the opening of "One Big Holiday" is enough to sell the most picky of buyers.I'm not sure if I'll get the accompanying CD's- since I have a lot of MMj in my iPod already, from performances that are more personal to me (i.e. Bonnaroo's past, especially this year's 3 hour post-midnight marathon). But the DVD will be in heavy rotation for sure. That is all...-D
