Hi,The "Sound Unseen" film festival starts up next week here in Minneapolis. This is an annual festival where all the films are about music/musicians. This year has one of the better lineups in recent memory. Some stuff I'm gonna try and check out this time:- "Monks: The Transatlantic Feedback": Gary Burger is even travellin' down from Bemidji for a short set after the screening. This should be cool. "Black Monk Time" is a fan-fuckin'-tastic album that everyone should have in his/her collection. If you're not familiar with the insanity of this band follow this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3bMVcuiv6Q- "The Treasures Of Long Gone John": Documentary about Sympathy For The Record Industry head honcho Long Gone John. SFTRI has released hundreds of records (he introduced the world to The White Stripes) over the years and it keeps on going, and going, and going. Many a record that I cherish has come out on this label. Hey!...another link: http://www.thetreasuresoflonggonejohn.com/- "My Name Is Albert Ayler": I really want to see this but I think I'll be working during the only screening. Bastards! Next to Sun Ra, this guy had one of the more unique lives in the history of jazz. A pioneer of free jazz (and one of two performers at John Coltrane's funeral) who mysteriously ended up floating in the East River one day. I would like to know more about his life. I'll have to wait for a hopeful DVD release of this one. I got no links for this.Should be good stuff.Tomorrow night is Wu-Tang Clan. From what I've heard all surviving members will be performing. Hopefully this is fun.Cheers,Davis Presley
