  1. Paul Busch says Jimmy Smith....how I miss him. Fondest memory was walking through the Jazz and Heritage Festival Grounds in N'awlins...off to meet up with some other festival attendees. My friend Sig and I were walking..talking..smoking..and we heard this sound. It was the Hammond B3....and it was Jimmy and crew playing in one of the smaller tents. Days before mobile phones...we stopped and said..one more tune...one more tune..one more....45 minutes later the set was done. We were inflamed. That was the last time I saw Jimmy Smith alive...but will not be the last day I listen to his keys. What a god.... Peace Paul

  5. Grievous Angel says you'd think most labels would recognizes it as a valuable marketing tool, particularly for old or obscure stuff. and it can't be downloaded, just streamed- jimmy smith, and his label may have made a new fan or two today.

  6. Dave says Like I said somewhere else, it's not as if people can extract this audio from the Flash player & save it or distribute it, right?

  7. Spike says I agree. To one who hasn't had the wherewithal to keep up with Jimmy Smith since the fifties, it's great to hear that he has used funk to good effect.

  9. Spike says Touchee. I didn't glom onto him (or organ trios in general) until maybe eight years ago, and my modus operandi is to check out an artist's early work first and work my way forward through his or her ouevre until I burn out, usually the same time he or she burns out. I know, I sounded like some youngster saying, "Oh, too bad you weren't around in the twenties; it was magical."
