The Shuggie Trifecta: Complete

Posted over 5 years ago
I've finally completed my Shuggie Otis collection (after mistakenly believing for years that "Inspiration Information" was his only album.I could easily play these three discs all day and never get sick of them. Funk, soul, blues, rock, jazz, early electronica... all in one place. His first two albums ("Here Comes Shuggie Otis" and "Freedom Flight") were found on a two-fer on the Raven label, and "Inspiration Information", his final album (for now.... Shuggie, you out there?) was of course reissued by Luaka Bop a few years ago and included some tracks from "Freedom Flight".These three are highly recommended - essential for all MOGgers.Don't make me come over there and burn you a copy!

  4. Grievous Angel says i've got "inspiration info"- prefer his version of strawberry letter to the bros. johnson, and the rest of the album kicks it as well.

  5. Lester Jonze says Dude, Shuggie totally rocks out. I have a cd called _Shuggie's Boogie:Shuggie Otis Plays the Blues_, from the Roots n' Blues series. It has some tracks from _Here Comes Shuggie Otis_ and _Freedom Flight_ plus some live and some unreleased stuff. And it's all just some shredding guitar work. This guy was too talented, but look whwere it all got him. Hardly anyone knows about him anymore. But I freakin love him.

  7. Dave says That's a good one too - a compilation of tracks from these three albums and a few from appearances with his dad Johnny Otis.
