Whistle while you work

Posted over 5 years ago
This morning before I went to work I was listening to a song by Ministry of Sound called, "Flashlight." Of course, after I left for work and progressively throughout the day this song remained in my head and replayed itself over and over. I found myself whistling to the tune of... well, the whistle! Since the album "Dirty Nasty Sex Music" was a live recording, and it is apparent while listening to more than one track that an MDMA infused soul was a little bit more than too close to the Dj's booth, there is prominent whistling from an audience member throughout the entire disc. When I was first gifted this album I couldn't get enough of most of the tracks, but I thought the whistling was very gratuitous and uncalled for. I couldn't understand why anyone would allow that to happen on something they were actually going to release. However, after learning that it is actually a person who was at the performance that came to be the album, I underwent a newfound appreciation for the whistler! It's kinda like that SNL skit with Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken where they are recording the song "Enter the Reeper" by Blue Oyster Cult and the Cowbell player is getting more credit than he deserves. The cowbell was too much, but still, it was definately appreciated. MORE COWBELL!!!In this case it's the whistling that I appreciate. Yea, at first I thought it was overkill, but when I realized it was actually a party goer articipating in the glory of the sound, I respected it a whole lot more! That could be me whistling unknowingly in the background having so much fun being fancy free! "I got a fever, and the only cure, is MORE WHISTLE!!!"

  1. Spencer Owen says That's a funny story. Good twist on the "gimmicky element" because it is a total accident.
