Today my heart swings

Yesterday's tributes were really lovely, more than I deserve for sure. So, first things first, thanks to "+Anna+":http://mog.com/Anna/blog_post/97820, "+Lizzie+":http://mog.com/Lizziegreeneyes/blog_post/97874, and "+Erin+":http://mog.com/goodmusiconly/blog_post/97898 for the loverly words, images, and videos. I'm sure that if I had sisters in RL, they'd be hard-pressed to do anything more heartfelt.Secondly, thanks to "+Lucy+":http://mog.com/lucyintheskies/blog_post/97951 for the very clever dream-based tribute. If I ever get to go to sleep tonight, I'll let you know how those dreams work out. Did I mention that I'm on-call evenings this week? Argh. Work is doing its level best to annoy me.And, maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't have been gawking, but yanking Ms. Oblivious out of the road. Meh, I'm chivalrous like that.Yeah, I'm loving Our Love To Admire, not that that's surprising.

  1. 1234chainsaw says A cracking song on an otherwise largely repetitive album (a few highlights aside), but what a crappy video! What the hell was the record company thinking?

  2. Dale says I think they were excited by the "What the heck?" factor at the end, and didn't bother to think of how poorly the video went with the song. That's just my take.

  4. Mike the Knife says Yo, Dale. Been deep into a project and just scanning the oft-balky (now-refreshed?) MOG-iverse over the past week, but allow me to wish you a belated b-day, and reiterate my thanks for your invaluable insights, comments, observations...

  5. Anonymous says well, this is a bit late but happy b-day Dale! I liked this video alot too because of that surprise end to it, didn't see it coming heh

  6. Anna says You're very welcome, brother! Glad we could make you smile :) Seriously, this video does NOT go with a song AT ALL, not so much content wise, as image movement - rhythm wise. Oh well.

  7. Dale says My point exactly, I could see it with "Pioneer To The Falls", for instance, but not a song bursting with energy like "The Heinrich Maneuver".

  8. Anna says I guess they liked the slow mo effect they had going on in Slow Hands, and thought what's worth doing, is worth overdoing har har :)

  9. Lizziegreeneyes says Wha... that was too painful to watch - but I am quite liking of the album... think I am more enamoured of the Editors latest how-some-ever. Only thing I liked was the ending - glad to see she got hit by the bus... does that make me a meanie ??? I only say that because as both you & Anna astutely pointed out - the slow moe made it a total moe awful experience ;) Darlin Dale - you're more than welcome !!! & hardly more than you deserve !!!! Sorry to hear you're workin nights - that's the really meanie !!!

  11. brainofj says happy belated birthday my friend!! Work and such has kept me from the great world of MOG as much as I'd like, but to 2nd Mike a few posts above me, your contributions are irreplaceable. Hope you had a great day!

  12. Dale says Jenn & Lizzie, ya know, the working nights thing wouldn't be so bad, if I wasn't working DAYS as well! As it is, I'm back at it, on three hours sleep, and I've been on the phone with Micro$oft for two hours already. It's a good thing I don't work with heavy machinery. Irreplaceable, brainofj? I'm not so sure.

  13. Lizziegreeneyes says Stop being so modest - though it's quite endearing brother, you ARE irreplaceable !!!! MOG & this world of our wouldn't be the same without you !!!! Sincerely :)

  14. Shud33 says Hey Dale, I feel like I missed something from the sounds of your post. See what happens when I am away for a couple days. Love the song...the video though..not so much. :( That makes me sad that it sucked.

  15. watchbatteries says I saw these guys live over the weekend. Solid performance, despite their OLTA-heavy playlist, but the encore had "PDA", so it was cool. They didn't have the energy of the ska bands of the night before, but it was good. As far as the video goes, it's Interpol. They're not exactly an IDM-meets-microhouse rave fest. Maybe they want you to pay attention to, oh, I don't know, the music? Crazy thought, that. Also, Rest My Chemistry is good after I saw it live. Also, Interpol is on Capitol now, not Matador. The music exists for aural pleasures, no?

  16. SA says Congrats Dale! Sorry, didn't know, but better late than ever eh. ;) Great song, but agree with the bunch of you that the video is just plain bad. It's an up-tempo song for **** sake, why do the video in slow motion? That really feels off. And who said it was a repetitive album! grrrr... nah, just kidding, though I must say I disagree because it's ace in my book (the album, naturally) ;)
