WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Not to alarm any of you ...

Posted over 2 years ago
... but I just removed Mew's "The Zookeeper's Boy" from my MySpace profile. I know, I know, what am I thinking, right? I can't help it, this song, and its angular riffs, bullied me into it.*I'M SORRY, SO SORRY, MEW! I'M SO WEAK!* :'(By the by, I don't really use my MySpace, but feel free to "+add me, if so inclined.+":http://myspace.com/whosyrdad

  2. Dale says Oh, I might not have been clear, the video is for "Break" by The Cinematics. That's the song that's on my MySpace profile now. And that's a LOT of Mew right there, whew!

  3. hontzd says LOVED these guys at SXSW. Album is good, too, but they were even better live.

  4. Anonymous says thats cool, didn't know all of you were MySpacey's, I'm afraid to join for obvious reasons though Gonna have to start listening to The Cinematics now since Y'all are really into them, thanks!

  5. Dale says Yeah, I saw them open for Mute Math in March, and they were outstanding. Their singer put his heart and soul into the performance, which is remarkable, given it was +Lawrence, Kansas+.

  6. Dale says I don't blame you for being leery of MySpace, and wouldn't recommend you join. I have an account there, but I've hardly ever used it. Almost all of my friends are bands, or MOGgers. And yes, you REALLY need to listen to the Cinematics. Another sample? Sure, here's "Keep Forgetting":

  8. Dale says Maybe, but when you're not feeling a Ryan Adams album, I'm a bit worried. If you come out and wholeheartedly praise the new Interpol album, I'm buying the battery-powered wheat grinder and the generator. :P

  9. Anonymous says that was neat, thanks for the video. Gonna have to look more into this artist for sure

  10. Mike the Knife says And this little MOGger went "Mew, Mew, Mew," all the way home. But seriously, no harm, no foul, no aliention of affection, Dale. And that Cinematics album rules!

  11. SA says The Cinematics eh, never heard of them... ;) Nah, they are so cool, hope they'll leave the US soon and come touring here again. :) Would love to see them again in a small venue somewhere *cough*Doornroosje or small room of de Effenaar*cough*

  12. ebuzzmiller says Step away from the MOG and put the Mew DOWN!!!!

  13. kat3260 says you need to plaster your myspace with Mew imagery to account for this ;o)

  14. Dale says First off, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA to the lot of you crazy jokesters. Thanks for the perspective, Mike! Forget it, Stef, we're keepin' em! And here's a lozenge for that cough. ;) Step away from MOG?!? That's crazy talk! Bah, if I did, that would constitute caring about MySpace, and I just can't be bothered. Say it with me, people: MOG forever, MySpace never! MOG forever, MySpace never! MOG forever, MySpace never! MOG forever, MySpace never!

  17. Dale says Not quite as catchy, Mike. haha My one friend outside of bands and MOGgers is an old HS buddy, so it has its purposes, I guess.

  18. Marigold says Aggreed it is not as catchy. However, I will not discount what a great tool it is for the ease of finding and sampling new music. I have also found it a great one stop shop for for keeping up with bands. Most of my friends are bands as well. The rest are cousins, friends that I do not see much these days. I was dragged into it kicking and screaming and have to say I am glad I have a presence there. Am I defending it a bit...yes. I think it gets a bit of a bad rap. I will forever be indebted to myspace for getting me in contact with some dear friends that I had lost contact with for years. Plus..it helps with my self esteem. There are all kinds of really hot babes that want to be my friend. They give me their msn chat names and want to talk to me because they like my profile. Where was this resource when I was single back in the 90'? ;)

  19. Dale says LOL OK Mike, I appreciate that you're looking on the bright side. I do enjoy being able to sample new bands there, for sure.

  20. msquared64 says I've been taking heat lately because I'm never "on" myspace. I have hated it since Day 1... but I used it to find some new music, etc... but guess what??!! MOG came around and kicked myspace's candy ass!
