IT"S HERE!I got my copy of Pet Grief last night, and have listened to it this morning. Oh my goodness; the thrill I felt when I first heard Lesser Matters came rushing back. While no single song grabbed me by the ears and demanded my attention like "Why Won't You Talk About It" or "Ewan", I did give in immediately to the rush of New Order-meets-Chapterhouse melancholy. Now, their lyrics have always bordered on trite, but "The Wrost Taste In Music" did make me chuckle, in a good way. Behold the final couplet:But he's got the worst taste in music/If I didn't know this, I'd lose itHave you ever looked at someone that's more successful than you, in whatever endeavor, and commiserated by noting that he/she likes Michael Bolton, or whatever? Yeah, me neither. And, to the music press:WHY WAS I NOT ALERTED EARLIER TO THIS SLICE OF HEAVEN? Why am I yet again inundated with updates on Paris Hilton's new album, or Lily Allen's new album, like these popster's discovery of ska is a new and wonderful thing? UGH!
