So I had my final weigh-in this morning. The news is good, y'all: In the past twelve weeks, I have lost a total of 62 pounds, or 28 kg.
(Data demon alert) That works out to over 5 pounds a week or about 17.5% of my previous weight and I'm under 300 pounds for the first time in 13 years. (end Data demon alert)
My goal shirt, a green Smiths "The Queen is Dead" T-shirt Melissa bought me for Christmas 2005, now fits properly. Unfortunately, it seems like nothing else does; all my clothes are now too big. I suppose that will happen when you drop about five inches off your waist, and about three inches off your neck. I used to not be able to button a white shirt in my closet; now, it hangs loosely off me. Aww, darn it. ;)
Now, for the contest I'm in, I have to sit tight and wait until 5 May to see how I did in the competition. However, I do not intend to go eat an entire pizza anytime soon. Over the past twelve weeks, I've developed better eating habits and exercise habits, and I intend to hold onto those habits for a very long time.
Since this is, after all, a music site, let me add something appropriate. See, there's less weight for me to pull. Heh.

You really are a big loser, Dale. (I'm even worse, though. I was never able to button a shirt in my closet. I can only do it when not in my closet.)
Seriously, big congrats. I hope you're feeling as good as I am about quitting smoking (six months in a few weeks). You miss some things but on balance it's good.
My Trusted MOGs
You rock, Dale. We want to see even less of you in the future (geddit?!).

Weigh to go! sorry, but I do think you've done a tremendous thing. What's most impressive is how you didn't lose enthusiasm for it - you continued to lose even more pounds at the end of the 12 weeks than you did at the beginning.
On Jan. 1 you said:
Look how far you've come! Healthy habits, clothes that hang on you and I think you really dig this fresh food menu. Clap for Dale! { }
My Trusted MOGs
Woohoo, mega-congrats!!

It's never too late to switch to hip hop. Big shirts, big pants and big attitude.
I am very impressed.

"Over the past twelve weeks, I’ve developed better eating habits and exercise habits, and I intend to hold onto those habits for a very long time."
keeping up the good habits is the key.
if that smiths shirt is the only thing you have to wear, then atleast you will look cool while your wearing dirty clothes.

w00t! Hooray for Dale!
Excellent song choice too, btw : )

WOW Dale that is so very exciting for you! 62 lbs. is a small child, so I guess you could say your family has gotten smaller, lol! Congratulations & keep up the good work! You're lookin' maaahvelous!!
My Trusted MOGs
That's great, Dale. So pleased for you. Keep up the good work.

A most excellent achievement, D. Bravo!

Big congrats from Minnesota, I remember the feeling when I lost 40 pounds nothing beats it.

Way to go Dale! Bet you feel more energetic now as well. A little exercise can really get the oxygen flowing. Can't wait to start riding my outdoor bike that really takes me somewhere instead of all that pedaling at the gym... :-)))
My Trusted MOGs
Much love and good thoughts!
My Trusted MOGs
way to go, no small feat! How does Melissa like the "new you"? me-OW!!!
Inspiring! I have been putting off losing about 15 pounds, what a wussie. At least I'm finally getting down to the business of my new years resolution - 3 months later!
congrats....

Lol@Michelle's choice of vid/song! Perfect, too funny. Great pairing of The Staple Singers & The Band though, wow, give that song a whole new life!
My Trusted MOGs
Good job Dale; I've always been underweight, not a common complaint but it seems to fit me. Congrats for helping to fight what seems like an epidemic :)
My Trusted MOGs
WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!
62 pounds. That is a massive, massive achievement. How amazing. You should be very proud of yourself.
Don't get complacent :) Keep going. Next stop - six pack.

Thanks, everyone. When I was thinking out this post, I was going to name those people that I though had really provided me support when I needed it, but that would have been a LOOOOOOOOONG post. To anyone that read this: It is the love and support of MOGgers, combined with the love and support of my family, that has brought me to where I am now, and will hopefully help me continue to my final destination, wherever that may be. I love you all, so so much. Words are failing me.
My Trusted MOGs
Great job, and somehow you're still juggling all that life with mog, i'm so so impressed! you've inspired me.
My Trusted MOGs
Super congratulations to you Dale!!!
My Trusted MOGs
well done sir... impressive indeed...
My Trusted MOGs
Nice one!.....Go on, you can lose another 60 ;)
My Trusted MOGs
Sad thing is, Neill, I probably could. :(
My Trusted MOGs
Well done Dale,
Now you're all buff is 50 Cents career in any danger ?
My Trusted MOGs
hahahahahahahaha No, I've no bullet scars. Oh well.
My Trusted MOGs
Congrats! I'm too scared/lazy to do try losing weight. Also, I love food too much.
My Trusted MOGs
Heh, you sound like me twelve weeks ago. Here's something to think about, Peg: The best bite of any food is the first, so what's the point of eating a bunch of the same thing? Variety and small portions allow me to still love food, and lose weight at the same time.
My Trusted MOGs
Snacking is so much of an unconscious thing for me. Thanks for the advice though... if I can try keeping it in mind, then maybe I'll be a bigger loser than you ;)
My Trusted MOGs
that's BLEEPIN awesome!!!
My Trusted MOGs
Thanks kat!
