My friend "Helen":http://mog.com/QueenofHell, has been a supporter of Patrick Wolf since Day 1 here on MOG. She did us the favor of a "wonderful introduction":http://mog.com/QueenofHell/blog_post/24354 to the man's work. I had heard of him, but hadn't heard him, but who was I to resist her pleas that I listen? So I did. It was _good_.I picked up Lycanthropy and Wind in the Wires, and liked them very much. "Bloodbeat" even grabbed me enough to make it onto the old, tiny MP3 player.So, once The Magic Position was released, who would drop in to inform me that the album was available, but Helen, knowing full well that she had her claws in me (in a good way). So, I got it, but hadn't taken the chance to fully listen to it, until this week.Yesterday, I was running errands, so I popped the Gigabeat into the car stereo, and switched to the next album, which happened to be The Magic Position. I was stunned; I can't think of any better word to describe the experience.I could describe his work, but Helen does a much better job; please, go read her post. And thank you again, Helen, for everything.
