I was dragging my tail this morning, to the point where even getting the boys out of bed and dressed seemed to more than I could bear. Exercising was the last thing on my mind. Being dutiful above all else, though, I slapped on the headphones, and proceeded. One whiff of the opening bass riff here, though, and all lethargy was forgotten.Yes indeed, the funtime music of DFA1979 got me moving this morning. there's more, oh yes, but they'll have to wait for the comments ...

  2. lemontwist says I love Death From Above 1979. High octane rock, it's good stuff. I'll have to check out those other two videos once I'm done listening to the Shins.

  3. chucky says Very excellent. Hey Dale - while you're at it could you do some exercise for me too? I'm entirely too lazy.

  4. Dale says I'd go walk later, but Wichita's covered under a sheet of ice. The Scouts are playing blind football (soccer) tonight, so there's that.

  5. chucky says Ugh - ice. At this point I'd tease you about expecting to get the benefits of exercise just by watching the kids play soccer - except I can't because I just asked you to exercise for me. Heh.

  6. sedagive says Okay, that Daft Punk video is scary as hell. What is that thing? The words "the thing that should not be" just kept going through my head! Cool tracks, though. I'm going to have to check out more DFA1979.

  7. Anna says How mind-blowin' Death From Above 1979 are.... Though exercising is not what I would use them for. I don't really need to wink now, but what the heck ;)

  9. kat3260 says Dale...did you read my mind? Yesterday when I got my fat ass up on the exercise bike, I could not think of a single song that would motivate me. I think these tracks might help though. I'll let you know! Keep up the good work (I'm fighting the up hill battle too)

  10. Nixne Svix says Ah music. As my profile in some FBI lab somewhere surley states." Music is Fuel , starve him of that and the head will die." I honestly couldnt imagine not exercising without my Mp3 , how did we even walk around with those damn cd players anyhow? Dale From Above 2007!

  11. Dale says Why Anna, whatever do you mean? It's a type of exercise. ;) microbes, yes, yes you should. Kat, I refilled my MP3 player with the express thought in mind of choosing up-tempo stuff that will motivate me. So far, so good.

  16. Jess Horrible says hahahahahaaaaaaaaa... i love that daft punk song. i set my alarm to the jazz station, and when i don't feel like getting up, i lie there until my brain wakes up. jazz makes it so happy in the morning. especially because usually, when i'm getting up, there are some sort of vibraphones in the equation. MORE HUTCHERSON!!!

  18. Dale says Word, Jess & Mike. Ashley, I hope you're happy. For you, I shoveled my driveway full of ice. That's right; not snow, inch-thick ice. Whew, I'm tired.

  19. Smooth Hegemon says I know how much will power it takes to push yourself to start a workout when you feel completely spent, Dale, and I salute your iron will! My sophomore year of high school I was taking intensive ballet classes 5 nights a week _and_ running (very mediocrely) for our school's cross-country team. I think I seriously considered surgically attaching those Icy/Hot packs over at least 75% of my body at one point, I was so sore all the time. Unfortunately that was back in the day when Mp3 players were just hitting the market and they were almost criminally expensive and could hold about 15 songs, max, so I made a lot of mix tapes for my walkman to keep me from being bored to death at track practice. Poe's album _Haunted_ came out that year and I think she found her way into a lot of mixes. Oddly enough, my pointe instructor for ballet played a lot of A Tribe Called Quest during warm ups. It was pretty appropriate.

  20. tybees says That doll from the Daft vid seriously freaks me out! It's worse than the one from the Interpol video. But I'm now going to walk around at work tomorrow saying "stop format it".
