Music overshadows the hype, again
-
Artist:
Last year, I heard more hype about Wavves than actual music from them. Big fights, freaking out on stage, blah blah blah. I just rolled my eyes and decided I wasn't going to bother.
Then I heard the new album, and especially this track. Now I understand why we tolerate the petulance, because the music is really REALLY good.
Frankly, the whole album is very appealing, but this particular song popped up on shuffle and grabbed my attention. See what it does for you.

i'm with you.....the hype was counter-productive for me. this track is fun though so i guess it's time to reconsider.
My problem with the hype, really a problem with all internet hype, was that in the music blog noise-hole, a meltdown by a 23 year old with one Garageband'd record to his name was equated with that of Smashing Pumpkins, Sex Pistols, Morrissey, etc.
But I'll be damned if this isn't one of the best records I've heard all year.
Gotta love the "I'm sorry, you are in a different country, so this vid is not available to you" thingy. I thought the idea of internet was that everything becomes accessible to everyone? Argh...
Anyway, thanks for the tip Dale, because of all the off-stage antics I was a bit put off by him, but I'll go and listen to this song by other means. :)
Stef, try this link, it will get you there. Sorry, I forget about the occasional Youtube block.

i followed the blip link (video not available, too, gah!) and ended up playing the song over and over. that is one catchy numbah, sir. like a really good '90s twee pop-influenced early Weezer song or something.
same boat. i remember actually looking them up because i was tired of hearing about them. i kinda get it, but still a bit underwhelmed.
funny, I did not hear much of these guys but I do like the track
