Hey, look what I stumbled into!

Posted over 5 years ago
This past Monday, I'd decided to give up my stubbornness and finally get the new Silversun Pickups album I've heard so much crowing about in these pages. Before I did that, though, I thought I'd do a final bit of reading up in allmusic.com, just as that final confirmation, so I'd feel comfortable about it. I type in 'silversun' as my search criteria, thinking there's no way another band uses a name like that, and because I'm lazy like that. Instead of being transported to the overview page for Silversun Pickups, I was sent instead to the overview page for a band from England called Silver Sun. I read up a bit, and after feeling sufficiently intrigued, continue on to Silversun Pickups, vowing to myself to download a bit of their music.Well, the download just completed, and I must admit, I'm delighted. Silver Sun have a wonderfully sunny power-pop sound reminiscent of Sloan. I could bounce around the house all day to the sound of songs like "Golden Skin", "Julia", and "Last Day".FYI, I also got Carnavas by Silversun Pickups, but I haven't gotten far into it, because I'm enjoying "Checkered Floor" way too much. I'm sorry I waited so long to get it.

  12. democlez says I love stumbling on musicians like that. I've come across three artists in a similar fashion. It's like finding a $10-$50 bill (depending on how good the band is).
